Placed a pickup order. Received an email a few minutes later saying the order was already ready to pick up. That is the only thing that went well. I was concerned that items may be missing, with them getting it ready that quick, but they didn't note being out of any items, so I thought they were just that efficient. Well, I was very wrong. We received a text for us to use when we arrived, to let them know we were there. We pulled up in the reserved parking spot, and I tried clicking the link. It kept taking me to a webpage saying it was having trouble and that I needed to call the store. I'm pretty sure I spoke with the most condescending person I've ever encountered at Winn-Dixie. She didn't listen to anything I was saying, just kept asking questions that insinuated that I was an idiot. She was saying, "are you sure you ordered from this store?". I said yes. She said, "the one on Montevallo Road?". I said yes. She said, "the one near Mountain Brook?". I said, "ma'am I've shopped in this store dozens of times and know which store I'm at and which store I placed the order with. Your system keeps telling me there's a problem with texting to tell you I'm here, so I'm calling to let you know we are out here to pick up our order." She SERIOUSLY said, "ok, you're supposed to call when you arrive or use the link they sent you.". I said, "I've already told you that's literally why I'm calling you... Again, the link doesn't work and we are out here ready to pick up our order". She again asks if I'm at the right store. She finally asks for my name and puts me on hold. I placed the order for my mother in law, so I mistakenly gave her my mother in laws name. So of course when she came back to the line and said they didn't have an order for that name, I told her I was wrong and I ordered it for the first name I gave her, but the order was actually in my name. She said, "oh yeah, we have your order, just call when you get here." I'm serious, she NEVER listened to the repeated times I said we were already there, but the link was not working. She FINALLY brings our order out, and just walks away. Says absolutely nothing, just hands two bags to my husband, and walks away. My husband checks the order and 5 of my 8 items were missing!!!! Completely missing!! I never received an email nor a phone call stating they were out of anything, and she never said anything when she brought the order out. My husband had to literally walk into the store, let her know items were missing, and then go get them himself! Every missing item was found in the store! So they just simply didn't pull it to fill our order. This was our very first experience with a pickup order with Winn-Dixie, and it was absolutely terrible. Not only will we never do a pickup order again, but we won't shop at this Winn-Dixie anymore. This was actually the first time we'd been in over a year, because the last time we were in the store, service was just as horrible. I guess they'll never improve. Stay away, unless you want to be treated like an inconvenience...
Read moreI always find myself wondering as I leave with old produce and only half of what I actually went to get and / or really wanted in the first place: why didn’t I go to Publix?
They seem to be unable to predict busy hours, or they simply don’t care, because they never have sufficient (and oftentimes zero) cash registers or checkout lanes open.
Their “customer service” (if you can first find them, then get them to acknowledge your presence, then answer a question) is subpar at best (to be generous). The one advantage they have over the Publix directly behind them is the quality of their steaks – ¾” thick bone in ribeyes. Prices are comparable; however, Plenti is going away. So, I’m a Publix concert since I don’t get discounts on gas anymore.
Also, just plan on or expect (after checking yourself out and getting frustrated by the light flashing) that it will take sometimes in excess of a minute for a receipt to print. It’s 2018 - time to upgrade that dial up...
Read morePulled up in parking lot and heard a man on his phone talking loudly about how He needs to get a"hustle" for himself. He was a large black man with dred locks. It concerned me enough to tell the management when I went inside. I even pointed him out. The manager politely offered to walk me to my car. This is Eastlake, and it can be frightening around here. When I finished shopping, I looked up and saw that man on the phone. He works here! People do say things that they don't mean and perhaps, he might be going through a rough time, but the phrase "hustle" around here usually means something bad. He should not use those words so carelessly. Everything else that happened was a normal shopping experience. Use caution...
