Hitching Post Saloon — Restaurant in Bisbee

The Hitching Post is a genuinely cool bar, the BEST in Bisbee, not a "hip" downtown Old B bar, the Real Thing. It has an outdoor patio, nice in itself and especially good for the Shutdown. Cheap, potent margaritas. An indoor fireplace! Pool tables. Chile. The crowd is local, all kinds' a local, not tourists, because it is not in Old B but on Bisbee Road on the way to Warren, kind of across from the thrift store and the DQ. As Laurie Anderson said, "Well just take a right where They're going to build that new shopping mall." People are free inside the HP. I can't even describe how free it is because the Powers That Be would take notice. But the HP rocks, totally rocks. And great country western on the juke box, Roy Orbison, Patsy Cline. I visited Hitching Post Saloon in Bisbee, Arizona Tuesday night for the 1st time. The bartender didn't know how to make a Tom Collins, several of the tables close to the musicians couldn't be used because they left guitar cases on top of them, the group playing had 6 guitar players, 1 trumpet and a tambourine. Maybe it was open jam night. Yes, there's lead, rhythm and bass guitars but 6? Is no one for coordinating the musicians? Right in the middle of one piece, someone started tuning his guitar, the other people stopped playing. Dude, do that before the piece. Oh, and Mr. Rough Voice singing man? Every word in a song doesn't have to be yelled at your audience. Pretty soon it all sounds the same...just rough. The floor was scuffed and dirty, more than 1 nights dirt. Yes, everyone...

The smell outback is horrendous. What's even worse is the bar staff. I would never refer to them as bartenders. Their incompetence of 1 job is mind-blowing. I gotta tell you, if you can avoid this place, do so!!!! Not only are there 2 bartenders, and just a mere 7 people sitting at the bar, These two bar hands overlooked us several times. Then, put other people's charges on my bill. She stated the woman that was standing next to me ordered drinks, and she "thought" she was with me. Yet, I watched that woman give her cash for her drink. So.... Your guess is as good as mine as to what happened. ALSO, get some damn fans! It's so...
