Disappointing Experience at Trippin Billies – July 27, 2025 – 7:25PM (Party of 7)
As someone who values supporting local restaurants and understands the challenges of food service, I don’t take negative reviews lightly. However, our experience at Trippin Billies on the evening of July 27, 2025, left our entire group deeply disappointed and unfortunately warrants honest feedback. We had a reservation for a party of seven at 7:25 PM, expecting a smooth, enjoyable dinner service. What we encountered instead was a series of issues that reflect poor kitchen execution, inadequate service management, and a lack of attention to guest experience.
First and most concerning, one of the chicken sandwiches that arrived at our table was served with a piece of chicken that was cold — and not simply lukewarm, but clearly underheated, with parts of it still frozen. This is not only unappetizing but raises serious health concerns. Serving undercooked or improperly thawed poultry is a fundamental food safety issue and should never make it past the kitchen.
Second, the pizzas we ordered came out with cold toppings that had clearly not been cooked properly. The cheese was unevenly melted, and several ingredients were chilled to the point where it seemed like they had been added after baking, or the pizza had sat out too long before arriving at the table. For a restaurant serving basic menu staples like pizza, this level of inconsistency is hard to overlook.
Third, and adding to our frustration, the overall service was extremely slow. We waited an unreasonably long time for our meals to arrive, despite the restaurant not appearing to be overwhelmed. Even more frustratingly, one of the entrees we ordered never came. We had to remind the staff of the missing item, only to be told it was somehow “missed” in the kitchen. At no point did a manager come over to acknowledge the oversight, offer an apology, or provide any meaningful resolution.
The service staff themselves were polite, but seemed stretched thin and under-supported. Mistakes happen in any restaurant, but the lack of urgency or accountability in addressing ours was disheartening. When a large group makes a reservation in good faith, there is a basic expectation that the restaurant will be prepared to handle it — particularly in terms of timely service and properly cooked food.
Finally, the AC was OUT. Adding more fuel to the already burning fire.
We came to Trippin Billies looking forward to a relaxed evening with friends and family. Unfortunately, the experience was marred by subpar food, long delays, and avoidable mistakes that suggest a lack of proper kitchen oversight and floor management. At this point, it’s difficult to recommend this establishment to others, especially for group dining or special occasions.
I sincerely hope Trippin Billies takes this feedback seriously, as there is potential here — but only if significant improvements are made to both food quality and service...
Read moreVery nice fun environment if there was any customers or employees. Went on Sunday and it was dead slow. 1 other table of 4 at 2:30 in the afternoon. Way over priced for mediocre food at best. Not disgusting but not worth the money either. Out of several items on the menu. You place your order and pay upfront then sit down. Left a tip For paper plates 3 napkins and 2 straws already on the table. They bring the food and the vegetables on the pizza are all but raw. The chicken sandwhich was a frozen chicken patty that a child would eat. Never saw another server . Oh and if you order a soda prepare to dink out of a pitcher not a glass or a cup but a 32 ounce pitcher. The place is a brewery but can’t put a Pepsi in a glass? Wont be back. Place has a ton of potential but needs a ton of help to figure out the stuff like that. I will say the employees that were working are very nice. Just needs some work. Maybe it’s a learning curve for them....
Read moreTook my family here for dinner tonight. We are from out of town, but heard good things from our friends in Crewe. Pizza was the best I’ve had in a while. We had the plain cheese for the kids, but it was super flavorful. Also got them some chicken nuggets, but had way too much food. My wife and I had the Earth Goat and the Island Time. Both were great.
We also had the Wrapper’s Delight chocolate cherry porter, which was super good. I had a hard cider, which I forgot the name, but it was local-ish.
Atmosphere was a little loud, but we didn’t mind because that means people won’t be annoyed at our loud children! Haha. Servers and bartender were super friendly and helpful. Will definitely visit again! Excited to try out the porch with outside seating and a fireplace...
