I can't say enough about the extraordinary service Semiahmoo consistently delivers every time I visit.
It is apparent that every crew member holds the same high standards, drive, heart, and pride, in making a difference in the lives of every guest...even the furry ones, no matter what the weather, local event, number of back to back weddings, or rare power outage, the Moo, is a true rarity in the service and hospitality industry. This Is your home away from home... the place that always remembers YOUR name. They make you feel like you are family...because you really do matter.
A special mention to the front of the house: Kristen's masterful dedication as Resort Concierge will leave you with a vacation experience that you will never forget. She is a consistent, methodical, and intuitive planner... leaving you with a bespoke local experience or replete with numerous options to adventure through Washington's secret and storied hidden...or perhaps forgotten history.
Emilee's calm and genuinely artful approach to running the Catering department, stunningly stands out from the rest of the local venues available in a ~300 mile radius. Just leave your event in her hands...forget the rest. Sincerely...do yourself a favor and stop questioning or micro-managing your special day...just trust that her mind, her vision, her attention to detail will make your event a success and exceed your every expectation. Stop overthinking it... let go of every worry. Emilee is creating and managing a very important milestone for me and my family. I simply said what mood I wanted to create. She not only listened, she responded with the perfect themed event for my 53rd birthday, which will be held at the resort in December.
The confectionary splendor of their pastry chef's macaroons...yummmmm...try one... you'll thank me later!
Alyssa's smiling face and soulful attention to detail, shining up every mirrored and glass surface, so that you can see your reflection and you just... smile... because finally, you are relaxed, present, and perhaps the image staring back at you is... happy?... perhaps a younger memory of yourself.
A true appreciation for the Saturday afternoon wine-tasting stories from New Yorker Rick, the Resort's Sommelier; so much fun and what a great wine selection; an incredible and educational juxtaposition of the classic grape styles throughout the world, compared to local Washington state wines and the evolution of the state in the art and perseverance of wine making.
Of course, you can't leave The Moo without stopping by Packers!! Carolanne's management style is an inspiration; calm and serene to all patrons, paddling like hell... deftly keeping the ship afloat!
Packers Bar 🍸 will introduce you to all The Ladies' Who Rule "Their" Bar...fiercely...
Kellie 💜 Shannon 🍀 Krystine 🧡 Susan 🌻 Carlotte 🦚
Pull up a barstool, they'll remember your favorite drink, are on fire with the latest trends in mixology, and the rest of your day will simply melt away as you gaze outside the 65° degree unobstructed view of The Salish Sea.
I didn't forget about you, Christian or Jonathon! You make the tables turn over quickly...and you just keep smiling the day away!!
You MAY see Charlie and George, the resident sea lions, snacking throughout the day, by the water's edge... magnificent Bald Eagles soaring within yards of the patio decking. Stroll along the shore, venture out 1000 yards during high-tide, find a chair and sink back into our gorgeous PNW sunsets...don't forget to bring your guitar or musical instrument... fellow patrons will cozy up around the camp fire 🔥 and bask in the spontaneous talent of some of our guests.
I could go on about that certain "magic" that this lodging exudes...that truly, only a few places are lucky to be...but it is the people who take care of your every need, that make this certain type of magic special; people..will come back for the crew...not the view, extra down feather pillows, or well-appointed hospitality suites...you become a frequent patron and member because they make you...

My wife and I with our friends brought our 4 kids (under 2 years old) out to have a nice sunset dinner on Saturday night at the Packers restaurant. We both were celebrating anniversaries during the month of August and my wife and I actually were married at semiahmoo only a few years ago so we thought it was fitting we come out. We called and made reservations for inside and when we arrived we were greeted by a nice older lady who seemed to be pretty busy with other parties going on. We mentioned we needed a high chair and two boosters and we never ended up getting any boosters even after asking twice. Most of the night waters were rarely filled up and it took 20 minutes for our server to come back to take our orders. We ordered basic food, burger, pizza and our kids ordered some light food off the kids menu. We then proceeded to wait 55 minutes to get the food. At this point our kids were losing their minds. Usually restaurants will offer to bring the kids food first. This was not the case. We also had to ask multiple times what the status was on the food. Only to be told “it’s on its way” and then take another 20 minutes.
When the food arrived, it was cold and they had messed up the pizza order we had. We had one of our friends order the vegetarian pizza and it came with chicken on top. We also ordered a side of chicken for the kids and they forgot to order that. The grilled cheese sandwich my son ordered was rock hard and cold. We let the busser know they messed up the pizza and kept quiet about the cold food. So he ordered a new pizza without chicken to come. When it finally came, it was UNCOOKED!!!! So bad. Absolutely unreal. Our server also was no where to be found during this time. Not to mention when we asked for the bill, it took an additional 15 minutes and then they added gratuity of 20 percent to it, even with a 1 month old and 3 under 2 years old.
I have worked previously in fine dining as a server (over 7 years) and I know what it’s like to be busy. But to be honest, I was FLAT OUT APPALLED that one of the highest regarded resorts in Washington absolutely failed the hospitality level we have seen it deliver in years past. Again, my wife and I chose semiahmoo as a place to get married a few years ago because of its amazing quality and attention to details.
This is not the only time we have eaten out here recently where the service and food was just bad.
I am a business owner in town and I am keenly aware of how important quality reviews are to help the business grow and mature in a healthy light. And for the business to be challenged to be better.
THIS IS MY CHALLENGE TO YOU. In order to better serve your guests. Please get better. Spend time training your cooks to master the art of cooking. Train up your sous chef’s and pantry line cooks and prep teams to understand they do noble work to impact people’s experience with food. Please help your servers, bartenders, bussers and hosts to showcase hospitality and hire hardworking people who can handle what the job demands.
I would like to refer people to Semiahmoo but until this changes, my wife, kids and myself will not be back anytime soon. This saddens me and would like for it to be different but we just have had too many experiences recently where the guest service, hospitality and quality have been lacking.
I would be more than happy to have another conversation to help with context but I hope you can refine systems and make...
Read moreWe have frequented Packers for over 17 years during our yearly vacation to the area. We’ve watched the menu and general service change over the years. Some good changes, some not so good. We found a happy hour menu online and decided to stop in to try several appetizers. We were seated very quickly and then left unattended for about 10 minutes. No water, no eye contact from anyone who passed by. Turns out we came during shift change, which we understand can throw a wrench in things. We wouldn’t have felt quite as abandoned had someone quickly said, “We are in shift change. We will be right with you.” We received our waters and asked to be seated outside. Before going outside, we asked a young man if the happy hour menu was available outside. He said yes. The person who seated us gave us All Day menus. We asked for the happy hour one and she said, “We don’t have Happy Hour. Did you find that menu online with Google? You wouldn’t save any money anyway with a Happy Hour menu. We’ll get you a specialty cocktail.” Then she walked away without giving us an opportunity to ask any questions. Mary, our waitress, came to introduce herself. She saved the day and saved two customers from leaving. The 2 star service is in no way a reflection of her. She is a five star plus and most likely one of the reasons the restaurant is surviving. The food was good, but the restaurant is at the risk of overpricing itself. The atmosphere outside is, of course, stunning. A couple of days after our visit, I tried to provide feedback to the manager of Packers. I called the Semiahoo main number five or more times to reach anyone in a managerial position. The manager of Packer’s phone number went to voicemail, which was full. The assistant manager of Packer’s phone number did the same. This, in itself, speaks volumes to the lack of attention given towards leading a team. I also asked for the hotel manager and was told he is in meetings all day. He responds best to emails, not phone messages. The days of actually speaking to someone seem to be a thing of the past and not a priority. If I had been able to speak with someone, I wouldn’t have written this review. Perhaps this will receive the attention otherwise lacking...
