El Vallarta — Restaurant in Blair

I have waited too long to post this review, but each time I think of returning my last experience prevents me from taking the risk.

On April 15th 2021 I ordered my favorite dish togo along with a dish for my wife. Upon arriving home my first bite came with a hint of funk, and after poking through a bit and smelling I found something in the mixture of meat to be off. I returned and kindly shared my concern asking to have the same dish made with fresh ingredients. They took much longer to prepare the single dish the second time around and I had hoped that would mean fresh ingredients were used.

Before leaving the lot I listened to my gut and deconstructed the dish a bit to confirm there were no issues. Unfortunately, this time I was able to determine it was specifically the crab meat that was off. I returned to the payment kiosk and quietly shared my complaint as not to concern the many other patrons eating at the time.

The man smelled the food and said there was nothing. He had another man come from the back and he too said there was no smell to be concerned with. The first man then suggested that perhaps I had covid and my nose wasn’t working right. Then told me they had the entire kitchen staff smell both of my dishes and no one could smell anything off.

Based on both dishes having bad crab meat it seems clear they did not use fresh ingredients the second time around.

They asked if I wanted another dish and I asked for a refund and left.

I will likely never return to this place to eat, which is a bummer because prior to this experience I would have told anyone it was the best Mexican food in Blair. I assume that had they taken the time to use a fresh bag of crab this post would not have needed to be written and Id be a continuing happy customer. My wife’s...

Went in to get food that we ordered online picked it up and drove 20 minutes home to look at it when I got home and found out that we were missing about half of our order I did not have the tortillas my sides and my wife's main dish was missing. When I tried to call them back and let them know that I was coming back to pick this stuff up they had their phone off the hook for over 20 minutes because they were busy and didn't want to answer it. I get it you're busy I don't understand how you want to leave your phone off the hook though that's just ridiculous. When I got there and explained what was missing they didn't believe me at first then the gentleman went into the back came back with a bag threw it on the counter and I made the comment wow no apology he then proceeded to look at me and say what do you want need to get on my knees and beg for your forgiveness and I replied wow no but a simple apology would be great I just drove an hour round trip to get my food fixed that you guys messed up. While in Blair NE on business, we ask local people where the best Mexican restaurant was located and they all recommended El Vallarta which was right off the main highway going through town. We were greeted by wonderful staff as we entered and ask what they recommended. We got the the special which was a T-Bone steak on a hot platter served over several delicious types of peppers and onions sauteed to perfection, all which accompanied a large platter of sour cream, guacamole, salsa, beans, rice, lettuce, and flour tortillas, chips and salsa. They had great margaritas for $1.99. There was enough food for my wife and I to share the meal and was very satisfied with our overall experience.
