I was driving through Blair to get some tools. I saw the Mandarin House.
I hadn't been there in every bit of 20 years. I thought,I wonder if it is 1/2 as good as I remember? So I stopped in on my way going back the other way. I walked in, the place didn't have 2 people dining inside, a few people, I assume we're employees. I was a little concerned,am I going to get, hot, fresh food ? I'm the only person ordering food.
The nice lady by the cash register says, what can I get you? As she hands me a menu. I asked her,do you have hot tea,she replied, yes. I look at the menu and see my old favorite Mongolian Beef. I ordered it as my main entree. I am hungry (I left that part out in the beginning). I also picked 1/2 an order of crab rangoon, and 1 egg roll. In a pretty quick time, she gets my total and I receive my food to go in a nice cardboard box. My plan was,eat and drive as I'm heading home. In my hungry state of mind I get into my van in the parking lot, I sit and grab the egg roll,oh my goodness,it is fresh and piping hot!! I am surprised! Next, I grabbed a crab rangoon, same thing and she gave me 2 hot n sour sauces. I am in food heaven!!
I then opened my steamed rice and the Mongolian beef (if you love onions as much as I do order this). The rice was fluffy and wonderful, then I'd gotten a taste of the piping hot Mongolian beef,oh my goodness all over again 😁 I'm in the parking lot saying to myself,I have got to stay right here and enjoy this food, I cannot be driving and swerving all over the road.
I finished everything.
I then took the lid off of the tea that had been brewing, took a sip of it yep,SAME thing! Piping hot and tasty. It was time to get on the road,so I sipped the tea and dessert was a fortune 🥠 cookie.
I can't say enough good about this place. I know I will return as soon as I can and I will, sit inside and enjoy the same food all over again.
Thank you Mandarin House for the experience i thought was long gone!
I will...
Read morePoor quality food , old worn , and stained carpet rice and noodles undercooked, egg rolls tasted like they had been sitting there all day, I've eaten better Chinese food in a t.v. dinner. Over heard talk of management changes so that may be a factor .My personal hunch is that I believe that there exists a percentage of Chinese people that have a degree of contempt for Americans that , for the most part keep to themselves, various reasons going back as much as 150 years. No outward acts of hate or anything like that it's just that I've observed on more than one occasion subtle manifestations of obvious dislike specifically in the service industry with indifference and just not putting out the best effort. To top it off the buffet is 13 bucks a pop..there are plenty of better Chinese restaurants in Omaha for the same or lower price .I'm not angry I'm just giving it to you straight, calling it the way I see n. I would not go back to eat there even if...
Read moreThis place does have ok food. The beef portions are a joke. They fill the entire container with raw onions. We ordered sweet and sour chicken, all the veggies were uncooked and thrown in. Chicken was over fried, almost hard.
The chicken lo mein, had almost no chicken and raw onions and carrots
Mongolian Beef was awful. The taste of the meat was fine, there were 7 small pieces of meat and an entire raw onion.
All 3 entrees were undercooked and veggies were raw. For a $50 dollar meal, you are better off going someplace else. No one at the store seems to mind or care that the food was sub par. I have tried this place 4 times, everyone has an off night and that’s ok. However, there are issues each time I have been. Please if you are reading this, improve the quality standards of your food. All of it tastes great but cooking veggies fully and adding the proper portions of meat...
