Now that I’ve had a moment to sit and approach this as respectfully and tactfully as possible, here goes…I had my mothers 60th birthday party here on 6/17/2023. I have been planning this for the better of 6 months or more. My primary and first point of contact was Luis. We went through everything from seating, decorating, the menu etc and I paid the deposit and party planning ensued. As the months went on & I came in to make payments, have my decorator come in to get a layout of the floor plan etc, Luis suddenly stopped answering all correspondence with me. There were times I called the restaurant with questions and concerns and couldn’t get in touch with anyone to the point where I just drove up to the restaurant to discuss or make a payment on my moms party. They also hadn’t seen or heard from Luis. Fast forward to the final week before my moms party & I’m told “oh Luis said you may be needing linen”. I absolutely need linen & I was told at that point that linen is $4 per chair and $11 per cloth! I had a party of 50! This sudden last minute of a large cost was shattering to me! I expressed to them that my decorator provides linen and I can have her bring it. They told me “oh no, the owner doesn’t allow the customer to bring in their own”. Then I was told in that same conversation that if I wanted the cake cut, it would be a $150 fee. They literally charged me $150 to cut a cake that actually served less than 50 people. Last issue was the issue of time. The party was from 6-9pm and I was notified that if all parties were not removed by 9:10, I would be charged an additional $200-250. I inquired about whether grace was given to allow my decorator to take down decorations. They told me no. So, I basically had to have my decorator come towards the end of the party where I still had guest there to begin taking down decorations as I couldn’t afford any additional fees. As far as service, the waitresses and waiters were amazing and Amanda and Erin were great with stepping in where Luis went rogue. The food was ok. The catfish was fried way to hard to enjoy and I couldn’t even take leftover food with me that I paid a great deal for. My mother was happy but the sudden fees, nickel and dimeing, point person missing and this fear of not wanting me to speak with the owner made for a very rough road dealing with this place. I am a fair person but to not even provide me some sort of leeway or incentives on things especially given the point person I was initially dealing with completely disappeared on me is unacceptable.

Glenwood Oaks Review Hello, I must first ask you to be patient because this will be a lengthy review. I would like the owner Mike to be aware of the horrendous lack of service being provided. I was referred to this restaurant by our community Mayor. My brother recently passed, 12/26, and I was looking for a restaurant with great food and services to accommodate an estimate of 20-25 individuals after the memorial service- not a repast, but just dinner for my family. Everyone knows memorial services are lengthy, and sometimes numbers vary, some may eat, some may not, you never know. I visited Glenwood Oaks personally the day before and met with the manager Luis (male), after speaking over the phone, explaining my expectations, time frame, numbers, etc. I followed up with him the next day going over the same things. Luis said he can accommodate.

On Saturday, 1/7/23, around the estimated time I gave him between 3:30 - 4:00, an estimate of 20-25 of us arrived for dinner (within the estimate I provided the day prior). The restaurant was empty, no other patrons with the exception of people Luis was assisting, and maybe one other couple in the back.

There was one young black waitress on duty, I think her name was Adelai, who was a GOD SEND. She and the younger Hispanic bus boy were the only two positives out of the horrible experience, but Adelai was extraordinary with her patience, service, professionalism, attitude, everything.

Adelai was TOTALLY working by herself with the exception of minimal help of the hostess, and practically none from Luis (manager) with the exception of him filling the orders for drinks, and helping with some of the food orders that were incorrect.

The busboy assisted Anali more than anyone. We placed all appetizer, drink and food orders. Of course, we received the appetizers in good time, but we waited FOREVER for our dinner, as well none of the food was out at the same time. We received two to three dishes here or there sporadically.

Luis was EXTREMELY nonchalant and truly did not care, so either he was a total but hole, racist, because we were all black, or he's just the type of person who does not care.

Our family has traveled the world, eaten at some of the best and worst restaurants, but never experienced service like we did at GW Oaks with the exception of our server (Anala).

I understand why it was empty on the day I visited, and the actual day we came in for dinner.

I think the focus is on the "To Go" area, as well as the night crowd with the live band, etc. It does not matter to me, because if you have a restaurant on that level in this community, you should be at your best, and ready no matter what the situation, especially when it was planned ahead.

We will never visit there again, but we did communicate to the young lady that she should quit and look for better employment, which we will assist her in.

She's too good to work there for people who could care less about her well-being.

The food was ok, not great, some good, some not, as well as the drinks. The appetizers were good. The experience, one...

Two words: Stay home! The food is good so if you want it order it and have it delivered. Service was lazy and lackluster. EVERYTHING took tooo long. No bread was ever brought to our table. Strawberry daquiri was just pink ice but they did take it back when asked. Asked for mashed potatoes instead of french fries, nope got fries. Asked for hot gardinera on the side, nope they put it on my italian beef sandwhich so it was too hot to eat. My son got the chicken alfredo: sauce was bland, tasteless and the pasta was oily/ sticky with not enough chicken. For twenty dollars I expected better. It was my husband's birthday so they were nice enough to offer a birthday discount for his meal but the server came so infrequently that he was almost half way through his steak before he could even get any hot sauce. Because our server took so long between appearances, we asked one of the table bus boys if he could give us some hot sauce he said okay but then never gave us any which turned out to be kept on a table in the corner right behind us. When our server finally showed back up (which was ten minutes later) I asked HIM for some hot sauce and then magically the guy we had already asked to give us some gives it to us off the table which he has gone back and forth past the entire time. Just completely rude. The food is VERY expensive but potatoes are served dry with NOTHING ON THEM. So my husband get old people mixed vegetables the 14 oz prime rib (which WAS cooked perfectly) and a dry potato with nothing on it with a drink that was not prepared correctly. Top bad service with a MANDATORY 18 percent gratuity and it left a bad taste in my mouth. Of course when a server knows that no matter HOW they perform they are going to get eighteen percent on top of an already expensive dinner they don't have to put forth much effort nor give good service. To most of my request he actually appeared slightly irritated and my order was not correct. I am not pleased and will not be back for dining in service. We'd have been better off going to Olive Garden except they don't...
