Shedel Kitchen — Restaurant in Bloom Township

So happy to have another African food place in the south suburbs to order food from. 🫶🏾

The pros. Taste was good, and ordering was easy over the phone. Cash payments required, which is cool with me. The woman was really nice, pleasant, & accommodating. I asked if she could separate the rice & the tomato stew into 2 different bowls, and she obliged with no problem. And she walked the food out to me when I arrived to pick it up, which was really sweet. I told her I would have had no problem coming to the door. 🙂 I so appreciate all those "little things" because they add up to good customer service. I love it. ❤️

The cons (not many). The tomato stew tasted like it came from the jarred stew I used to buy instead of being homemade. I was really looking forward to tasting her homemade version (if this wasn't), considering that everyone makes theirs a little bit differently. 💗 Also, I wish she would have filled up the containers to the brim w/ stew, but they were only half full. But I get it, as some of the ingredients for African dishes can be expensive. Like anything that's a delicacy.

I will note that this it's an "order ahead and pick up only" food service. It's not a restaurant. For anyone who may be wondering & looking for a restaurant building.

Overall, I'm grateful that I gave this place a try. Especially considering that there are very few places to purchase hot & ready African/Nigerian fare. 🇳🇬 ✅️

I recently visited, and had the pleasure of trying their efo—it was absolutely delicious! The dish was packed with authentic flavors, and the greens were perfectly cooked, seasoned just right. The meat pie and fish roll were also standout items; the meat pie had a savory, flavorful filling with a golden, flaky crust, while the fish roll was crispy on the outside with tender fish inside. Everything was incredibly satisfying and tasted just like it would at a home-cooked meal. On top of that, the prices are very reasonable, making it a great spot for anyone craving genuine Nigerian food without breaking the bank....
