Due to the lockdown, Yummy Cupcakes was only excepting orders over the phone and curbside pick up in order to limit the amount of direct contact. I completely support this to maintain the safety of those who are working as well as the customers, however, the person who answered the phone and took our order was very rude and rushed through our service, making us feel like more of a nuisance than a customer. They didnt even tell us how much our order would be after getting our payment information, we didn't find out until receiving our order. Granted, we did decide to show up 15 minutes before closing so we were just going to let it slide. We ended up taking the last three vegan cupcakes off their hands. What was really upsetting was the picture below, which was how we received the box in the parking lot... It's like they rushed and didn't even try with that last cupcake. The icing stuck to the box trying to tip it back over. Because of this the cupcake had to be ruined just to try and get the icing back on.. This was supposed to be a small birthday gift for a friend. Again, we just did not feel welcome here. I dont think we will be coming back.

Here’s a refined version: --- I ordered a birthday cake from Bloomfield Bake Shop two weeks in advance and was deeply disappointed. The 5-inch cake cost $38, with an additional $10 for just 3–4 small pieces of strawberry. What was supposed to be a "cake" turned out to be more like a giant cupcake. The batter was hard, dry, and completely tasteless, while the icing was overly hard and cloyingly sweet. The shop seems to focus primarily on cupcakes, as there were no actual birthday cakes on display in their refrigerator case. While the owner was very kind, she should have been honest and stated, "We do not specialize in baking birthday cakes." It feels like this was more about making a sale than delivering quality. Baking is an art that should come from the heart, not just for profit. If birthday cakes aren’t your area of expertise, please don’t advertise them. Sam's Club or Kroger's cakes tastes way way better. At least the batter would've been moist and tasty.

We used Yummy Cupcakes for a small simple "naked" wedding cake for us to cut + mini cupcakes for our guests + a jumbo cupcake for one of my bridesmaids cause it was her 30th birthday. We are so happy with the service we received plus the cake and mini cupcakes -- they looked so good and were so delicious! All of our guests loved the mini cupcakes (we had 4 different flavors). We had a great experience working with Lori, the owner. She was so friendly, easy to communicate with and it was very apparent that she is very passionate about the work she does! :) We will definitely use Yummy Cupcakes in the future!

Love there vegan cupcakes!! Moist & delish every single time.

Update on my review.

I loved this place from the first time my family and I tried there cupcakes. Even though there staff is mostly rude. One woman in particular just gives off a rude condescending demeanor. I get anxiety walking in and seeing her. She doesn't even greet you warmly when you walk in to there shoppe.

A positive there cupcakes are amazing. A negative but there cakes not so much.

Ordered a birthday cake for my child and it was so dry and the frosting was so sweet to sweet to thick to much. We all found ourselves scraping a layer of frosting off our slices. It was a waste of money and just a huge disappointment. What a shame. There pricey too. Definitely was not expecting that.

After singing Happy Birthday and everyone getting there piece we decided collectively to just throw away the cake. It was that bad. Well we knew it was bad when no one finished there slice and no one asked for seconds. Birthday cakes are highly coveted and anticipated, they truly make the party, everyone looks forward to eating cake at a party or gathering. This one ruined ours. What's even better then cake on your birthday for a child, is cake after your birthday the next day. Everyone secretly hopes the cake isn't all eaten and there's left overs for the next day including parents and grandparents. Desserts really showcase gatherings whether it be a wedding, a birth, a graduation, etcetera it brings people together. Honestly bakers are literally brought into a person's entire life, its a memory you keep with you forever. It makes the host feel absolutely amazing when there guests indulge and inquire where did you get that cake! This fell so short of any of this.

Then I decide okay so your cakes are terrible but your cupcakes are truly amazing. So I've ordered cupcakes from them on and off. Finally I go to order some cupcakes for my childs graduation party and I am told they can only do a certain amount of cupcakes per order. Which was new to me? And then I said okay well I never had an issue before? Rudely, I was told there other Yummy Cupcakes locations that require an X amount of cupcakes per order. I understand but we aren't in your other Yummy Cupcakes locations we are in Michigan. Again, I've never had an issue with my cupcake orders in the past. Instead of getting into an argument on the phone I said okay and decided not to proceed with my order. Which set me back so much, because I had to scramble to find another place to fill in what I was looking for in such short notice.

Gotta say after all this drama I am highly disappointed. They were my families go to in having at all our functions.

Unfortunately, after all these issues they aren't our first...

I'd heard wonderful things about this cupcake store, so stopped in to check it out for a friend who was having an event coming up for which she was thinking of serving cupcakes. I got 4 minis for us to try as well as 2 regular size. Most were disappointing. The Minis we got were lemon bar, salted caramel chocolate, red velvet, and a cinnamon Apple. The large sizes were chocolate chocolate and carrot cake.

The only 2 cupcakes we thought were worth eating were the salted caramel chocolate and the carrot cake. For those two the cake itself was moist and had some flavor. The cake part of all the others was dry, so dry as to be unpleasant -- as almost all "boutique" cupcakes seem to be. (What happened to the Trifles cake shop on Commerce Rd? They had wonderfully moist cupcakes.)

All of them had more frosting than cake, and were almost intolerably sweet. (If you love a pure sugar rush, these cupcakes are definitely for you!) The lemon bar cupcake was wonderfully lemony, but the flavor was all in the frosting with tasteless dry cake under it, and also was WAY too sweet.

The fact that they were voted best cupcakes in both Detroit and Michigan just shows the less than ideal availability of good cupcakes. Was hoping we'd found a cupcake shop to replace Trifles,...
