Worst dinning experience ever!!
Wish we would have read the reviews before we visited. This used to be a great place to go, it has gone down hill since the new owners took over a few years ago, so sad to see such a great place turn this horrible.
Party of 14, made reservation days in advance had to wait 10-15 min for them to put tables together and seat us. By the way, there was 1 guy at the bar and a couple sitting outside in the restaurant.
The bartender was awesome, extremely friendly and joked around with me when I ordered a birthday drink for my father, while we waited to be sat. And 1 of the 2 servers were also good, the other was snotty and rude the moment she walked in the door.
The restrooms were gross and tables sticky.
*Antipasto salads say Select meats...it had maybe 1 slice of salami diced up, 4 pieces of brown pepperoni and turkey (never heard of turkey on an antipasto salad) 3 tiny slivers of green pepper, tomatoes and shredded cheddar cheese menu said olives and pepperchinis also, but they were not on the salads it was very bland and pretty much just iceberg lettuce and dressing $10.00... *The fries you could literally “knock”on the table they were so over cooked and hard. *chicken tenders were so fatty only half was edible. *1/2 rack of ribs was so tiny not anywhere near a half rack, it was only 3 bones. They did tasted good though. *A person at our party ordered onion peddles as a side, we were told there was an up charge for the substitute. Ok no problem but a $5.59 charge?? This is the best part, when we questioned the waitress she started yelling at us!! Yes actually yelling. So obviously we yelled back and asked to talk to the manager. Then she argued with us more. And made sure we knew it was her day off and that she got called in, then said there was no point in talking to the manager because she wasn’t going to fix it. Wow!! Talk about no customer service skills!!! Well we talked to the manager who wasn’t much better, all said and done she took off about a $1.50 of our combined bills of about $350. for our food that most of it wasn’t edible or just made wrong. (3 of our 14 meals were good and no problems with it)
The manager then stood in the kitchen with this server while she bad mouthed us very loudly, called us cheap, the server argued with the manager about fixing the bill after the way “WE Treated her!!!” Absolutely unbelievable and we have no idea how they are even in business it was that bad. Very unprofessional and definitely in the wrong line of business.
We will definitely NEVER return and will spread the word so none of our friends or family have the same...
Read moreI used to love the Frog Pond, now I urge everyone to stay far away! My husband and I took my grandmother to lunch on Sunday. We arrived and immediately heard people swearing from the kitchen. Our waitress immediately told us they were out of more things that they actually had on their menu. So we ordered some salads and a chicken tender app. After 20 minutes our waitress came out and told us this story about how the cook walked out and someone else is now cooking our food as we speak. She told us they were so behind ( there was only 1 other table there besides us). Finally our food was brought out but my grandmothers food was not there. The waitress said her salad would be just a minute longer. 15 minutes later she finally got her food. The chicken tenders were so soggy and full of grease yet the chicken on the inside was so hard. My steak salad had 4 tiny pieces of steak and it was all fat. It looked like all the fat pieces from the prime rib that they couldn’t serve. The French fries were ice cold and mushy. The lettuce was starting to turn red around the edges. We were so disappointed, yet our waitress never returned so that we could get something different. We sat there for a long period of time before having to flag down another waitress to tell her what was going on. We were respectful and she said she would let the kitchen know. We had no drink refills or anything. Then the same gentleman who was swearing in the back came to our table, no introduction or anything and immediately says “I heard there is a problem over here.” I explained the situation and the gentleman got loud and disrespectful to us. He was scrubby and unprofessional. The gentleman told me he was the head of the kitchen and he had personally cooked our food. If that was the case, this gentleman should find a new profession. No one ever offered to get us anything else, never offered drink refills. After the gentleman left our table, I could hear him in the back talking about us! Finally our actual waitress came back with our check for our drinks (they had comp’d our food). I tried to explain money is not a problem for us, that if she would have returned we would of just gotten something else. The waitress’ response to us was that “like I said I was supposed to be gone at 230, sorry but I’m supposed to be gone already”. We ended up leaving mad, hungry, and disrespected. Growing up I worked at the frog pond and there was always good food with a fun experience. Please save your time and go...
Read moreI have been coming to the lake since 1986. The frog pond has been one of the places that I’ve always enjoyed.
It started to go downhill about 4 to 5 years ago and it has continued to become worse. We have come in several times even though we’ve been disappointed previously in hopes that the experience was just a bad day. It has not improved. Sadly with the new owners it’s has gotten even worse and becoming more and more an extreme disappointment.
The curtains have so much dust on them and the dark walls are so dusty and dingy. The carpet is terrible. The decor is so outdated. The floor is so uneven as you walk in that it’s not safe for someone who has walking issues. The windows seem to always be dirty. The bathrooms are horrible, they stink and they’ve never been updated.
As for the service and food... Service seems to be an issue, although the last 2 times we have been there the waitress has been pretty good, but it is long time to get the food. Food has become just ok and not anything that I would crave to have again. There was 4 of us in our party....I got a fish and chips meal, fish was good and cooked correctly but ordered the fries more crispy and they came out normal. Another one of us ordered the fish sandwich and she even pointed to it on the menu when ordered but she received a fish dinner. We waited quite a while for our food. Waitress was new but was doing the best she could do with what she has to work with.
I have witnessed two different groups get thrown out of the restaurant. This last time a man and his children were being thrown out as the “manager” was screaming at the bartender across the restaurant to call the police - bartender never even heard him. Its sad that if a customer complains they get thrown out.
Sadly the “manager” has a tough time with customer relations. People complain when they are unhappy with something, he just gets very defensive instead of apologizing and making it right and then learning from it. They need to realize that the customers are always right. I do know that there are those customers that just can be nasty but most are sincerely unhappy and are asking for help to make their experience a positive one.
Oh yea, their parking lot and their trailer court are a whole other disappointing story.
It’s sad that a former iconic place has fallen into such a...
