My family has probably been to Malia's now a dozen times. We've always enjoyed the food, and the service. Always clean, and until recently service has been good. Unfortunately, the last two times we've been there we've been disappointed. On both of our last two visits to Malia's we were served luke warm to downright cold food. The first time it happened, I just let it go and simply asked that it be heated more thoroughly. But the second time I have to think there's a problem in the kitchen. I informed the server my food was cold for the second consecutive time, and he just took it away without a word. After about 5 minutes he returned with hot food, and simply said "sorry about that". As I take my bill to the register to pay, I asked our server if there was new help in the kitchen. His response was "I don't know". I said, surely you would know if there was a new cook in the kitchen. His reply was to tell me "no I'm just a part time student, I don't pay attention to who's in the kitchen". This guy has waited on us the last three times we've been there, and before that he was a bus boy. So now I'm thinking he's giving me an attitude. I certainly don't believe him. I gave him about a 16-17% tip anyway, which in hind sight I regret. But this experience has really left me with a poor impression of Malia's. I will certainly think twice before going back, even though I live just a few miles away, and it is good...

I don't usually post a review like this, but tonight I ordered dinner for takeout. I ordered a Burrito California, a side of beans, chicken fajitas, and two crunchy tacos. The server asked if I wanted corn or flour for the tacos I told her corn, because what else would you have with crunchy tacos. I got home, and the container with the fajitas had the rice right on top of the chicken and vegetables, I did move the rice to one of the other indents in the container. When I opened the tacos, the meat was on soft corn tortillas, I tried to bite the corn tortillas and they were tough, as corn usually is unless they are crunchy. I called to let them know what happened with the tacos, and instead of saying they will replace the two tacos the next time, they said we can't do anything unless you bring those back to us and then we will redo them. So my other food would get cold?? 8 asked couldn't they just replace them the next time?? She said we don't do that. For pitys sake it was two tacos not a steak dinner I was asking to be replaced the next time I came in. I like their food and hadn't been there in a long time, so I thought I would get takeout for home. But I thought for this to be their policy, was wrong, what were they going to do with what I brought back??? Same thing I did, throw it away. I was very disappointed today in this and...

Wow! I am truly shocked at how many great reviews this place has, because it is truly TERRIBLE! We love trying new restaurants and I thought we would give this place a shot. But this was hands down the worst Mexican restaurant that we have ever been to. They advertise house made chips and salsa and it’s like they cracked open a jar of Chi-chis salsa and poured it into a small bowl. We had a California burrito and it was completely tasteless! The sauce was metallic tasting and inedible. Even with lots of salt and hot sauce, it was horrible. Their ā€˜horchata’ was nothing but plain rice milk with LOTS of sugar. I also ordered food to go for a family member who wasn’t joining us, and I made the mistake of not checking this order before I left. Combination chicken steak, shrimp fajitas, and that would be the picture attached. $17 for a tablespoon of rice, a 1/2 teaspoon of cheese and literally a few pieces of meat. I recommend going anywhere else! In fact, there’s a great Mexican restaurant in Fennville and their food is amazing! On another note, I understand that there are very few restaurants around this area, which I would have to imagine is the only possible reason people would even consider eating here. But we will never be back! I would rather drive an hour to eat...

This place deserves 10 stars. Homey, beautiful decor, clean restrooms, delicious authentic food, generous portions, and for those of you that love the chips and salsa, they are thick and crispy. The prices are very reasonable. They even have Pepsi products which are my favorite. We ordered the #13 and #18, chicken flautas and enchilada, tamale, quesadilla (all chicken) with rice and beans. Best flautas we’ve tasted so far, tamale and enchilada were delicious, very flavorful and not dry. The chicken in the quesadilla had great taste but maybe I’d skip the chicken next time as I found it to be too much chicken for a quesadilla. They were really busy (went on a Sunday at 6pm) and had lots of people coming in picking up take out. Like most places they are doing great as far as COVID protocols are concerned. I will mention that an extra basket of chips and salsa is an extra .50 cents which is a deal. Highly recommend. It’s small, and it’s not a fancy place but it is very pleasing, colorful and the employees are friendly. I didn’t get a refill of my Pepsi, but that’s because they were so busy and I probably didn’t need it. Oh, I forgot to add that the restrooms looked spotless.
