I went to Bao Destination last Tuesday with high expectations. The food did not disappoint! The Cha siu bao was better than most dim sum restaurants. It was flavorful and meaty with the right balance of savory and slightly sweet. It was not full of the goupy filler that many restaurants use, and the bao itself was perfect. The Pork belly bao hit the umami button with tender pork belly, pickled onion, and bits of crisp pork rind. I removed the cilantro since I don’t care for it—very un-Chinese. Again, perfect bao. The Bulgogi mushroom was succulent and spicy, a two-Kleenex rating in my book, but I’m a wuss when it comes to heat. Not spicy is my bulgogi level, and this was delicious!
