I recently had the pleasure of dining at Bonchon @ Bloomington, IL with my family, and it was a delightful experience from start to finish. As soon as we entered, the warm and inviting ambiance set the perfect tone for a memorable meal.
Now, let's talk about the star of the show: the food! Bonchon is renowned for its delicious Korean-inspired dishes, and it certainly lived up to its reputation. Our meal started with a variety of dishes, but the ones that truly stole the show were the crispy wings and fried rice.
My kids couldn't get enough of the wings. The combination of the perfectly crispy exterior and the mouthwatering sauces left their taste buds dancing with joy. Bonchon's sauces offer a tantalizing mix of flavors, from sweet and savory to spicy and tangy. It was evident from their happy faces that these wings were a big hit with the younger diners.
Personally, I had the pleasure of trying the BULDAK, and it was an absolute revelation. The heat from the spiciness was balanced beautifully with rich, complex flavors. The chicken was tender, and the spicy sauce had just the right amount of kick to keep me coming back for more. If you're a fan of spicy food, BULDAK is a must-try!
The fried rice was a perfect complement to our meal, offering a delightful mix of textures and flavors. It was the ideal side dish to round out our meal and added an extra layer of satisfaction to our dining experience.
The service at Bonchon was top-notch as well. The staff were attentive, friendly, and knowledgeable about the menu, which made the entire dining experience even more enjoyable.
In conclusion, our visit to Bonchon was a culinary adventure filled with deliciousness. The wings, sauces, BULDAK, and fried rice left us craving for more. If you're looking for a fantastic dining experience that caters to both kids and adults alike, Bonchon should be at the top of your list. We can't wait to return and explore even more of their mouthwatering offerings!
Bonchon, you've won our hearts with your delectable cuisine, and we'll be back for more very soon. Highly...
Read moreWhat a cool lunch date with the wife at BonChon. Nestled in the heart of the Parke Regency Hotel and conference center on the far east side of Bloomington, there are some tasty Korean BBQ treats.
The wife and I chose to share some samples off the full menu of many delicious looking dishes. We sampled the combo of Korean fried chicken half with the Korean BBQ and the other half with soy garlic. We also had Korean steak tacos and an order of fried potatoes.
The fried chicken was double fried that left a fantastic crust that is then tossed in the sauce. The BBQ had a nice heat to it and the garlic soy was delicious as well. The meat was so moist and piping hot. Not only was this yummy, the drumsticks were huge. They do not skimp on size out here. This serving could easily be a meal. I would eat this again without question.
The steak tacos were very nice as well. Plenty of fixings including iceberg lettuce, spicy mayo, slaw and ample ribeye slices this taco was finished with a soft tortilla shell. The serving comes with three and was quite good. This mash up of tacos and Korean BBQ was a perfect match. Light flavorful and generous portions. Again, this one is a keeper.
Finally, the fried potstickers. I mean potstickers, yes, fried, yes, sauced, again, yes sir! These crispy, saucy treats were packed with pork filling and we chose to have half garlic soy and half hot. So good, but be warned l, the hot is pretty hot. Loved these and could stuff them endlessly in my pie hole!
Overall, great meal, the service was pleasant and prompt, price was well worth the food and I would certainly recommend hitting them up. Several other items I want to try after this visit. So all told, this was a "get in my belly" moment. Don't miss out and swing by to see...
Read more3.75 stars — by no means a bad experience, but a bit odd. I ordered the Buldak. Food was good but less spicy than I was expecting based on times I have eaten at other Banchan locations. A woman different than our waiter (presumably higher management or owner) approached us as we were finishing our meal and asked how everything was. I said it was really good…just a bit less spicy than I anticipated. I, by no means, meant to offend or nitpick in saying that — I am just a spice-lover and Korean-food-lover with plenty of experience with extra-spicy Buldak ramen. Maybe my innocent intention didn’t come across, as the woman almost became defensive. She said something along the lines of “Well, you should try the Buldak next time, in that case. It’s our spiciest dish.” I looked down at the Buldak dish right in front of me and then up at my dining partner, a bit confused… I see other reviews about spice level being underwhelming. Those other reviews combined with my experience make me wonder if maybe they do not much take customer feedback, well, here. Not the end of the world — just doesn’t allow for a 5-star customer experience, especially if higher management or someone other than the waiter is involved.
I may have given 4 stars if our waiter did not try to upsell cocktails at 2PM on a Thursday! Kinda made things even more awkward — again, odd atmosphere...
