My family and I just finished a meal from Chi and it's probably the most boring, bland "Chinese" food we've had in a long time. I ordered the crab rangoon, egg rolls, kung pao chicken and pork lo mein.

The crab rangoon was the creamy, sugary appetizer that most people want. 5/10. Nothing special.

The eggrolls were chewy and had no flavor beyond cabbage. 3/10. They weren't gross. *My 3.5 year old will devour an eggroll from anywhere else we go. He took one bite of this and left it on his plate.

The kung pao chicken didn't taste like anything beyond a hint of spice. We couldn't find any real flavor in the dish. 3/10. It wasn't gross.

The pork lo mein didn't taste like anything but starch and a tiny bit of pork flavor. The texture was fine but they were so bland. 3/10. It wasn't gross.

Our meal was just under $40 and the best we could say about it was "well it wasn't gross". I can't understand how anyone thinks this is good Chinese food. We frequent Sichuan in Normal, Great Wall and First Wok. Those places all run circles around Chi. I'd happily eat Panda Express before returning to Chi.

Anyone that reads this and hasn't been to Sichuan please do yourself a favor and go eat real Chinese food.

Needless to say we will not be returning to Chi. "It wasn't gross" just isn't...

Chi Family Express is a hidden gem when it comes to Chinese cuisine. From the moment you step inside, you're greeted with a warm and inviting atmosphere. The menu offers a wide variety of dishes, ranging from classic favorites to unique specialties.

One dish that really stood out to me was their General Tso's Chicken. The chicken was perfectly crispy on the outside and tender on the inside, coated in a delicious sweet and tangy sauce. It had just the right amount of heat, giving it a nice kick without being overpowering.

Another must-try is their Beef and Broccoli. The beef was incredibly tender, and the broccoli was cooked to perfection, still retaining its vibrant green color and crunch. The flavors melded together beautifully, creating a satisfying and flavorful dish.

The service at Chi Family Express was top-notch. The staff was friendly, attentive, and knowledgeable about the menu. They were more than happy to make recommendations and accommodate any dietary preferences or restrictions.

Overall, Chi Family Express is a fantastic Chinese restaurant that delivers on both taste and experience. Whether you're craving classic Chinese dishes or looking to try something new, this place has got...

4:30p.m.Friday Restaurant in a tiny storefront. Very clean and vibrant when you walk in. Staff greeted us with a welcome immediately. Only about 5 customers, (beat the crowd) This isn't a buffet. You order the main course and it comes with the egg roll and rice. This meal is made fresh for you. So you kind of need to know what kind of Chinese food you like. You can also do that while sitting there sipping on your adult beverage, they have a very nice selection with all kinds of drinks. Their play on chips and dip is fried wonton wrappers with sweet & sour sauce. Another great idea. They bring a bowl to your table when you walk in. The young lady serving us was attentive, a young man also came to the table I sense he has pride in what he was serving us. I ordered egg rolls and fried dumplings. The wife got wonton soup and tangerine shrimp. Check that picture out, that plate is a work of art. She did say the soup was only luke warm. Everything else was spot on. One of the last things she said about her dish was," the shrimp are huge and a lot of them !" Very nice experience. I recommend trying this place out.

Revised: lately the taste has sharply declined compared to the food we used to get 3-4 months back. May be they have gone through some changes in the kitchen team or revised their recipes. The food became sweeter and blunt, like typical American Chinese which I personally hate. ••••••••••••••••••••••••••• One of the best Chinese Food Pickup found in and around Central Illinois. We’ve tried Mongolian Triple and Chicken with Veggies along with some other dishes. All of them were really nice. The food here is savory but not too sweet unlike other Chinese restaurants around, that’s what I liked the most about this place. Sorry, couldn’t get a chance to click any food pics, all were gone in a jiffy before I could grab my cam. Remember, the food here is only for take out or delivery, there is no dine in option. Pro Tip: It’s better to call their number or order online through their QR code. Ordering through Doordash or Grubhub will unnecessarily attract charges.

Hi Guys: We read the Pantagraph article and just purchased House Special Soup for $8.95 which is supposed to contain Chicken Stock Broth with Jumbo Shrimp and Chicken, mixed with broccoli, napa, carrots, snow peas, baby corn, mushrooms, and water chestnuts! When I arrived they said they were out of chicken, so I asked for double shrimp since they had no chicken! This is what I got: Five (5) shrimp, three (3) carrot slices, two (2) thin cabbage slices, two (2) small broccoli bits, three (3) small water chestnut slices, one (1) mushroom slice, two (2) bean pods, one (1) baby corn broken into three pieces! All this in a cheap, cheap, chicken broth not even the quality of $.97 Ramen noodles at Kroger! I gave two stars because they were kind and courteous! There are so many B/N restaurants that serve quality food for a good price! This is not one of them! Sorry guys! 🤔 I left a picture of the big bowl of broth for which I paid $8.95!
