Decided to try here while in the area as was in the mood for Thai or Indian. A nice little restaurant in a strip mall, walking in and was promptly greated. Was no wait but were other guests. Staff was prompt, courteous, and friendly. When noticed hadn't brought drinks by mistake confirmed we wanted them. We had a Thai Ice Coffee and Ice Tea, both were complimentary of the food, i.e. helped dampen the spice when needed. We started with the Curry Puffs and Chicken Won Ton Soup. The curry puffs were great, especially in the homemade sauce. The won ton soup was nice and flavorful, my daughter polished off all the won tons. Entrees were Curry Beef (medium heat), Holy Basil Chiken (medium heat), and chicken fried rice. Both non rice entrees come with white rice. The rice is properly cooked, moist and sticky rather then dry or hard that you sometimes at some other places. The Curry Beef was excellent, very tasty, beef was tender, vegetables were well represented, sauce was flavorful with a little sweet and proper amount of heat for what was ordered. Recommend putting the rice in the bowl to soak up the sauce. The Holy Basil Chicken had a good balance of vegetables and chicken, vegetables cut at good sizes. The sauce was proper heat as ordered, you can see the pepper seeds in the photos which give a great spice. The Chicken Fried Rice was good on taste, portion and balance. Came as white meat only, very well seasoned, and nicely prepared. Fortunately we saw there is a location closer to home that we'll...
Read moreFriends invited us to join them for lunch at Sawatdee in Burnsville, MN. Sawatdee is a local chain that started in St. Paul, MN and has grown to four location and a food truck do to their popularity. The atmosphere was bland at that time of day. The space was well lit because of the large windows across the entire front of the building. The menu was typical of Thai restaurants except for an unusually diverse selection of seafood dishes. I will keep that in mind for future visits. We all opted for the lunch buffet, which had sparse but flavorful selections. It would have helped a little if the offerings were labeled, however, it was pretty easy to see all the ingredients. The flavor of the food was quite good for a buffet, where things can tend to get overcooked. I've been to the St. Paul restaurant a few times for dinner and can say that they are typically at the better side of average. Although we had the buffet, the manager was very helpful and made our outing more pleasant. I rated the food a 4 out-of-five because it was a buffet presentation. However, I am sure that the dishes would taste much better if selected from the menu and cooked to order. I will definitely return to try some of the...
Read moreI first came here back in 2013 and the place was like a cozy little mom and pop shop. We came in with a group of about 20 people and the service was fantastic. Multiple staff members made sure we enjoyed and always had what we needed. Fast forward to 2017 and I came alone for lunch last week. It would seem as though the place has been upgraded and looking spiffy while still retaining the Thai decor charm. The service to my delight was still superb even during lunch hour. As I ate watching many smiling faces, I heard a waiter as a customer how the food tasted, he said "fantastic, I love this place," and I couldnt agree more! The Pho is 9/10 only because of the variety of spices to add to the soup wasn't within the selection. To be fair though, I prefer a Lao rendition (extra ingredients) of Pho and every restaurant can differ in it's styles. Still much better than even some traditional Vietnamese Pho dishes/restaurant I've had. Overall this place is 10/10 for the...
