Portabella Italian Restaurant — Restaurant in Bluefield

One of the worst customer service experiences I've ever had. Was going to order delivery while at work, the woman taking my order acted like she didn't even want to talk to me. Then when I finalized the order she then proceeds to condescendingly tell me that the order must be $20+ for delivery. I apologize and add food to the order to make a higher total. I give them my card information and she asks the address, I tell her, she then proceeds to tell me she needs directions for her driver, who has no phone or GPS of any kind and tells me that she isn't going to let him use her phone to find the address before he left. So it was up to me to give them complete directions. I only work part time in bluefield so I'm not very familiar with the area and I've never been to that restaurant before. I try looking it up in Google maps to give them Google maps directions. She informs me those directions aren't good enough and I need to call someone who "knows what they're talking about" and call her back with better directions. I was getting upset by this time and decided it was easier not to eat at all than to deal with the most unfriendly staff in all of southern West Virginia. This was my first time at this restaurant and my last. A salad was included with my entree and while eating the salad a bit down on something extremely hard. At first my thought was, did I just loose a tooth. Then to my surprise, upon spitting out the object, it was a screw!! The waitress was standing right in front of me and took it from my hand and said “oh, I am sorry. Needless to say my friend I was hesitant to eat another bite. When my shrimp scampi arrived and it was horrible. No flavor and watered down. I never complained about the tasteless food and was polite to the waitress. I was told that because of the screw in my salad my meal would be taken care of but at checkout I was given a 10% discount. I really don’t believe they knew the seriousness of this if I would have swallowed it. Thank goodness I chew my food thoroughly before swallowing and felt it on my tongue and bit down gently. Heading back to Florida after a pleasant visit at the Hawks Nest resort area, our fun group of six stopped in for lunch at a place we felt locals prefer. While the seating and decor may have been just a tad weathered, it actually seemed to add value to the charm and character of the restaurant. All food was really excellent, especially the tasty garlic knots with baked in cheese! The meatball sub was fresh and flavorful and the stromboli was essentially... to die for! All of this would have made for an outstanding lunch experience but it was our server, YeSharia, who made our visit even more enjoyable. YeSharia was just amazing! Her welcoming smile, and her engaging personality, professionalism and hospitality made this casual meal a most memorable one. Portabella's will definitely be on our return-visit list and we all collectively agreed this was a gem of a restaurant and would highly recommend to anyone!
