Ok i dont normally do reviews persay... im usually in here asking for a good spot or looking at everyones posts for a good spot to eat.. after many raving reviews for Chubby's Burgers & Brewhouse my family drove over 50 miles to meet my mom in Blythewood to try this establishment.... first off i gotta say the arcade games is a massive bonus for me and my kids... first complaint and its a big one for me my moms beer was warm upon being served YUCK who wants a warm beer, and not even served in a frosted/chilled glass....onto the waitstaff, our waitress was attentive however her actual listening skills not so much as she asked my mom 3 times if she wanted another beer after being told it was warm and she didnt want it or anymore the third time my mom actually had to say "he** no" for the waitress to grasp she didnt want another beer and it was not refunded either , as well my husband had to ask twice for mayonnaise which when his order was placed he asked for it on the side... my mom ordered the shroom dude burger which to our surprise had 5 VERY TINY slivers of mushroom and had to ask for more to add, my husband ordered the clint beefwood burger and had no complaints other than it definitely needed more of the bbq sauce which was tasty , i myself ordered the Southern Charm burger now this may be a preference thing just for me but i rather prefer my fried green tomatoes to NOT be SOGGY and my bacon could have definitely been a little more crunchy instead of floppy , the pimento cheese part (wheres the pimento?) Was more like a cheddar sauce to me , my kids enjoyed their meals my son had grilled cheese(hard to mess up) and my daughter got a ?junior? cheeseburger (that thing was huge) , the fries were great perfectly seasoned on all of our plates even though basically all of MY fries were tiny peices from the bottom of a bag it seemed... our appetizer we ordered the fried cheese curds now my husband is a yankee he knows his curds lol, these were not curds they wore more liek someone chopped up some string cheese into small peices and battered and fried, also cheese curds dont necessarily have that LONG cheese pull that these had ,the ranch sauce was interestingly a good combination as we normally get a sweet pepper jelly or marinara sauce served with them .... our sweet teas were on point though.. overall id say about a 7 out of 10 , may try again not sure, didnt take any photos bc we were too busy with our waitress and our issues.. to say it was worth 80$? (with their rainy day special kids eat free 4$ glass wine) No it wasnt worth 80$ for three adults to have a burger and fries one beer and a...
Read moreI don’t normally leave reviews, but this experience really missed the mark.
First off, our server (Amber, I believe) set the tone in the wrong way. Every single thing we asked for, the response was “we’re out of that.” Chicken nachos? Out. Tater tots? Out. The steak for the cheesesteak? Not in the building. I can roll with that — restaurants run out of items sometimes — but the way it was delivered came across careless and dismissive. After being shut down three times in a row, I finally just asked for a moment to regroup and figure out what we could order.
When I joked lightheartedly, “well dang, y’all are out of everything I want,” the attitude back made it feel like I was the problem. Here’s a thought: before guests even sit down or start ordering, let them know what’s not available. That way you’re not wasting your time, and we’re not wasting ours. I ended up with a BLT and sweet potato fries, while my son got sliders.
The kicker though was when I asked about the cheesecake that was being advertised on every table. Instead of an answer, I got: “What do you mean?! It’s just regular cheesecake.” Complete with an eye roll and walking away mid-conversation. That’s not just unprofessional, it’s flat-out rude. I was asking because it was featured — how would I know it was “just regular”?
At the end of the day, I hope the restaurant eventually has everything they promote on their menu. But even more importantly, I hope the staff recognizes that attitude matters. If you don’t want to answer menu questions or can’t handle customer interaction respectfully, maybe front-of-house isn’t the right fit.
My sweet tea and Shirley Temple came to $7.68, and that’s exactly what I left. Here’s my tip: respect goes a long way. Hospitality is literally in the job description. If you can’t serve with at least basic respect, maybe find a job where people don’t ask questions — like...
Read moreWe’ve been here plenty of times when the old owner Chris owned it. On Sunday we decided to go back and try it with Paul as the new owner. I hate being negative but I also need to be real… it was awful. For starters, they were out of Texas toast so my husband couldn’t get the club. The waitress then offered a wrap but immediately took that back as well, saying they didn’t have any lunch meat either. So he opted for the chicken tenders instead, which were nasty. Just your average, overpriced, frozen tenders. Nothing special and certainly not handmade like expecting. My daughter wanted the grilled cheese but again, they were out of Texas toast so she didn’t get to eat and had to sit empty handed the entire time. I got the That’s What She Said burger and it was very disappointing. This burger is nothing like they once were. It was much smaller, way less greasy and gooey, the meat itself didn’t even fit the circumference of the bun, where as before they would go well over the size of the bun, the sauce on it was awful and it was just plain and dry. The fries were barely warm and super soggy. The only thing I can say that was wonderful this trip was the pickle fries. They were hot, fresh and very tasty! At this point, I don’t think I would go back. The burgers are not even close to what they once were and for what you now get, it’s too overpriced. We used to be able to split a burger and both be full! At this point, Red Robin is better, sadly. I remember Paul saying the burgers would not be changing, just the cheesesteaks but I find that not to be true. Look at my pictures and then look at the older Google pics. They do not even come close to being the same. Very disappointing. But I wish Paul well with this restaurant journey and hopefully one day he decides to revert back to what Chubbys once was, a big, chubby, greasy,...
