We informed our server that I am gluten intolerant and my husband is lactose intolerant. We were waiting for a good bit before asking the waiter if our salads were coming soon. He informed us they were coming right out. We asked him if they had cheese on them (as a precaution because we felt he was clueless) he replied "yes" and had to remind him my husband could not have dairy. In the meantime, our meal came first so we sent it back so we could enjoy the salad properly without our food being cold. When the salads finally came mine was covered in croutons. So i had to send it back since I can't have gluten. When the salad arrived again i asked for extra dressing- never received it. We then asked for the manager because allergy issues should not be a light matter and at this point we had been there almost 45 mins without food. She apologized and said the salads were on the house and they would make us a fresh meal. They were not proactive in making the new meal properly and waited until we were completely done with our salads to start cooking the meals which meant another decent delay. When our food came my husband ordered the nut crusted fish. It came out plain. When we informed them it was wrong they told us the fish had dairy served that way so they omiited the nut crust. Though we appreciated they recognized this finally, at no point did they ask my husband if he would like it prepared another way or have another dish- so he ate plain blan fish just to move on from this. My dish was way to salty! ( and i really like salt) Though we informed the manager of the missteps on the dinner- she just apologized and moved on. Our server then informed us we could have a free dessert. We declined just wanting to leave and not take the chance on encountering gluten or dairy in dessert which is typically the case- we no longer trusted they would be safe foods. When the check came it had the salads on it that the manager said would be removed so we waited again to have this error corrected. Never saw the manager again. It was the longest dinner with no enjoyable moments of dining there. When a meal is $100 there should be some redeeming moments- not a single one. Will not...
Read moreVery good food, and the service is consistently excellent. This place tends to be busy. However; the service is seemingly unaffected and still outstanding. For one reason or another, well, the reason is...it's Boca. People often compare this place to the Capital Grille, referring to it as a less expensive alternative, and I absolutely agree. The food is somewhat comparable, but the bill is gonna' go easier on you. I actually prefer J's steaks. Reason being, The Cap. Grille serves a dry aged steak with very little seasoning, it's very good, but at the same time very plain, to me anyway. Whereas; J. serves your steak with a melting dab of butter on it. And they must use some sort of seasonings. But I'm sure all that is a trade secret. It's really (in my opinion) the best steak around. I prefer it to Ruth Chris (I've only eaten at the WPB location), Morton's and even New York Prime (which is excellent). But you don't have to sell a kidney to eat here. Those are anniversary, birthday, thank God the biopsy came back negative type places.
I highly recommend:
The Alex's Salad with champagne vinaigrette.
The NY strip, or the fillet, both are fantastic.
The lemon butter tilapia served on couscous with steamed vegetables. (That's a special, it's not on the regular menu, therefore; it's not always available. But it's out of this world, so good.)
I've eaten primarily at the Boca location. However; the Fort Lauderdale location was excellent as well. If I remember correctly, there's a slight variation in the menu. However; both are equally good in terms of food, service and ambiance. The Fort Lauderdale crowd was younger and a bit louder, but the overall experience was great nonetheless.
And this is very important, both locations strictly adhered to safety policies. Face coverings, social distancing and other precautions were implemented with absolute care and precision. Everyone's temperature was taken upon entering, on the forehead, no orifices were utilized, I believe that's optional, just kidding. But they do take safety...
Read moreI wish I could have given NO STARS. Friday 15th, 2018 was a very bad experience for my spouse and I. We had a reservation for 8 o'clock and we still had to wait for a table. We were greeted by Kate our waitress who seemed like she did not want to be here. She brought two glasses of water. Then spilled the water over my legs and didn't seem to care much. I ordered the grilled salmon and I noticed it didn't come with any sides. I asked her for a side of mac and cheese and rice. Our food took about 30 to 40. Usually the waiter/waitress would check in on us and tell us that our food would be right out. When I asked Kate how long will our food be out she started explaining a whole process about steak and grilling and I understood. She seemed to be very annoyed with us asking her anything. So we left that alone. Finally the food came and i noticed there was a weird side next to my salmon. I asked the waitress that brought my food out what it was. She told me it was orzo, I told her I didn't order that and I was missing the mac and cheese. Kate came out with the mac and cheese, then I asked her why is there orzo on my plate she said it was a mistake it's not supposed to be there. Okay. Mistake? Meaning the food should go back to the kitchen. Then I looked in the orzo and noticed there was nuts which I am allergic to. But I wasn't trying to be difficult I ate the salmon and the mac and cheese. I asked for the rice to be turned back because it wasn't cooked. We asked for our check. Kate brought us a complimentary carrot cake. Yumm right? She also mentioned there's no nuts in there. I said great! My husband and I get home and I opened the the cake with a fork and BOOM WALNUT in the cake. Thank you Kate! My spouse and I wanted to try something new, and we were celebrating Valentine's day but thanks to someone that is careless, dislike their job, or perhaps had a bad day it was a...
