I want to start by saying we love the food here and order from here frequently. However, after our last dine-in experience, I feel compelled to share this review.
We came to the restaurant shortly before 9 on a Friday, we were fully prepared to order takeout if dine in wasn’t available, we asked the host if we were still able to dine in, or if we should order takeout, and they said our party of 2 could still dine in. We immediately ordered our drinks and then our food (two entrees). When the food arrived, one of the orders was incorrect and was beef instead of chicken pho. The food was taken back to be replaced, which took an additional 10 minutes. When we received the correct order, we immediately began to eat as fast as we could, as to be mindful of the closing time. At around 9:20, our server rudely dropped off the check, tapping on it for us to pay. No less then 2-3 minutes later, another employee came to the table asking us to provide payment, which I immediately handed her. She reminded us they closed at 9:30, and asked if we needed boxes , to which we said yes. Before the boxes were even brought to us, they began loudly and rudely playing the song “Closing Time” and visibly speaking about us from the back (which was especially embarrassing considering it was not in fact closing time, and we were still in the restaurant due to receiving the wrong order). When we received the box, we promptly put our leftover food in and left. The time was 9:30 on the dot when we got outside.
Firstly, I have never been to a dine in restaurant that doesn’t allow customers to finish their food slightly past closing time, as once the kitchen closes there are usually closing duties that allows for remaining diners to finish. This aside, it was mildly frustrating that we asked if it was okay to dine in, and were told yes, yet treated in such a rude manner despite the error our server made in taking our order, which made things take longer. We were not acting in a rude or disrespectful manner, and it was clear we were trying to hurry. Had we been allowed to finish our last few bites of food, we likely would’ve been out no more than 5 minutes after closing. Despite all of this we still tipped 20%, and complied with the staff despite their blatant rude behavior. However, we will certainly not be back due to this lack of customer service and...
Read moreI'm originally from central MA which has a gigantic Asian population and I have been to many, many Thai restaurants in many different states. I'm always skeptical since every Thai place is pretty different. I was highly impressed by Eem Boone. The shrimp in a blanket ("butterfly shrimp" as I know it), was the best ive ever had, and that's saying something. I got the beef with crazy madness sauce. Despite the name, it was great with a mild amount of spice, your typical Thai basil brown sauce, but done very well. Since it was 13 bucks for any meat with the sauce, I figured they'd skimp on the beef. They absolutely did not. My wife got Pad Thai, and being Asian herself, knows Pad Thai. She thought it was some of the best she has had. The waitresses were kind, and seeing how I've lived in Burlington for the past 3 and a half years, they just seemed "normal" to me, which was refreshing. Down to earth, easygoing, and just the right amount of coming over to the table. The atmosphere had some authenticity to it, which makes me think the owner is actually Thai or at least southeast Asian. The value, the people, most of all the food; if I ever come back to the area, and I'm sure I will, I'll definitely come back here....
Read moreWe recently hosted a large group dinner at Eem Thai Restaurant in Boone to celebrate my daughter’s graduation from her undergraduate program, and the experience was absolutely exceptional. From the moment we arrived, we were greeted with warm hospitality and seated in a cozy, welcoming space that immediately set a celebratory tone. The food was beyond impressive — every dish was fresh, flavorful, and beautifully presented. Our guests couldn’t stop talking about how delicious everything was, from the perfectly seasoned curries to the fragrant rice and vibrant stir-fried vegetables. It was clear that great care and authenticity went into each meal.
The service was equally outstanding. The staff was incredibly attentive, kind, and efficient, especially considering we were a large group. They made sure everyone had what they needed and helped everything run smoothly, allowing us to fully enjoy the occasion. If you're looking for a place with excellent Thai cuisine, a charming atmosphere, and top-notch service, Eem Thai Restaurant is a gem worth visiting. Thank you to the entire team for making our celebration...
