Rita's Italian Ice & Frozen Custard — Restaurant in Bordentown Township

This more recently opened location--I think in about the last 6 months, is excellent. I go to this one quite often and there is never a long line. The employees are very nice, cheerful and professional. The inside is always clean and well lit. Also, being at the top of a hilly area, you can enjoy the view somewhat. There is a cluster of large trees on the hilly area as part of the terrain and view. A very nice and cozy location while enjoying your cool, creamy treat!! I give it 2 thumbs up. The last two times I have tried to go there have not been good. As soon as I opened the door the smell of bleach was so overwhelming that I had to turn right back around and leave. My boyfriend stayed to place our order but when he came out he said the taste of bleach was in his mouth and the smell wouldn’t leave his nose. This was hours before closing so I’m not sure why it has been so bad. The bleach smell has to be detrimental to the young kids working in there. Not good for anyone’s health to...

The staff here is very nice. However the product itself is not normal Rita's quality. Been here 2-3x over the last two months and each time I find their product isn't really ice and very watery and melts super quick compared to other Rita's. Not sure if they dont make it right or if its just not stored at the right temperature or what. Heck I was in Florida a month ago and they nailed it perfectly. Could sit outside and the ice was perfectly made. Wont' be coming back...
