This was one of the highlights of my trip. I didn't go in the water, just sat on one of the many convenient benches lining the path across the street, and looked out at the water. The beach is my happiest happy place, so this was a great way to start my day.
It looked like there was a rope and buoy barrier strung across at the boundary of the swimming area, but it was far enough out to provide ample room for even an extremely sizeable crowd of swimmers. There was only one person swimming when I was there, early in the morning on a weekday, and they were doing laps. This leads me to believe it's a great depth, as well. The beach itself was clean and wide, and looked like a great place to rest and watch the sun come up. Read moreWe went to the beach last sunday. It was a sunny summer day, we went by bus and there is a bus stop near to the beach. Who want to go by car, there is a lot of parking spot in the street. The beach is really beautifull, clean and the watter is a little bit cold. The sand is not to thin and there is a lot of gravel. There is a restroom spot ate the square near to the beach and there is no near place to take snacks or beverages, but some days they have ice cream trucks selling soft drinks/water and ice cream. In the same day you can take a walk around the bay it's really interesting and you can visit the Fort independence and visit the Castle island! There you can find a lot of tables to do your picnic and there is a Sullivan's Castle Island, a place where you can eat hamburgers....

The atmosphere was lively with people relaxing, enjoying the water, and just soaking in the day. We grabbed some ice cream from a nearby truck, skipped rocks, and took a walk along the beach. There was also a convenient tap area to wash the sand off your feet, which was a really nice touch. Parking was available around the area, which made things easier, and a highlight was watching planes take off nearby—it added something fun and unexpected. Overall, it was a wonderful spot for a relaxed afternoon, and definitely a great place...
