Read the whole review! The food was very good, quickly prepared, and served hot at the table (obviously, we were sitting down and eating there.) I ordered the chicken chow mein. My girlfriend ordered the crab lo mein, and we shared crab rangoon and donuts. We did like the food for the most part (the lo mein was a little dry, but still good/mine was great!) and we would give it 🌟🌟🌟🌟, but...
Here's the rest of the story:
We were traveling up Hwy 61 to visit family in a nearby town and needed to grab dinner before meeting up with them. As we walked in, there was what sounded like a ruckus in the kitchen, but we didn't pay much attention to it. We grabbed menus and sat down to figure out what we were going order. There was a lot of noise in the background, but you know how it is when you are on the verge of hangry! You don't care about anything until you know you're gonna get your food!
We walked up to the counter and a woman, who we assume was the matriarch of the family that owns the restaurant, started yelling rather loudly at what we thought were other customers. There was music playing in the kitchen and one of two young men, who had been sitting in a booth watching something quietly on a tablet when we walked in, came over and took our order. He was lip-sync singing along with the music, but the music wasn't very loud. It must have been Chinese music because we didn't recognize it or understand any of the words. There were a couple other customers that came and went while we were there. They were all carryout orders...
We sat down at a table near the door to wait until our order was ready (as far away from the booth and the counter as possible.) I took out my phone and put on a video we had been watching. I set it up on our table with the volume just high enough that we could hear it, but not to bother others. Someone in the kitchen cranked the music so loud we could barely hear our own voices, much less the phone sitting right next to us!
The two young men sitting in the booth turned their tablet up, seeming to compete with her with another program in a language we couldn't make out either. They weren't listening to the same thing at all. It was crazy! She was constantly yelling at the kitchen, at these guys, or she would answer the phone and yell into it. If we asked a question, she yelled the answer at us, like when I was trying to find out what was in the dispenser on the counter near the sauces and plastic silverware. Maybe that's just the way she speaks, but it ruins the whole dining experience. (Oh, and I think it was hot water in the dispenser, but I couldn't tell by what she yelled at me.)
Again, the food was good and if I lived near this China King, I might order it for delivery - if they have delivery - or maybe carry out, but I would have to be able to order it online! I would never call in and try to order, knowing that she would probably be there to answer the phone.
We wouldn't go back to eat at the restaurant again,...
Read moreI am relatively new to the area and was looking for a reliable go-to spot to eat, so I decided to take a drive and try out China King. This place has great food and great service! Reasonably priced, wide variety of dishes to choose from, and the restaurant itself is very clean, I don’t have anything negative to say about it! They always greet you with a smile, and thank you for your business. Thank YOU China King for your hard work and your delicious food! I highly recommend...
Read moreOrdered General Tso. and Pork Fried rice and eggroll. Definitely wasn't chicken. And tasted like how a wet dog smells. Almost certain of the texture of chicken been eating it for years. Instantly vomited and left.
The constant screaming and the yelling and the two young sons with mental issues walking around touching food and rubbing faces and taking trash out without washing is a big turn off also.
Won't be there again, and I warn others also.
I'm certain...
