Always a pleasant visit at the Bistro. As soon as you walk in, you're greeted with friendly smiles and happy staff, all who really seem to adore their workplace. Always seated immediately, every seat is comfortable and gives everyone at the table plenty of space to enjoy their meal without being too distant from their party. The staff is very friendly, always cheerful and positive! If you're having trouble deciding, just ask your waiter/waitress and they're always happy to rave about their favorites. First few times coming here, I got chicken. Crispy, flavorful, all-around delicious. The next few times I tried the fish, I think it was perch, and now found my new favorite dish. They let you have free refills that normally come very speedy and access to as much topping as you like. Vinegar? I personally love vinegar, and any time my family and I come to the Sunset Bistro, I request it. They always bring a nice, full bottle of a good brand and let me have as much as I like. The decor is very nice, very on-theme, the walls are a pleasant color and good to look at, and the bathrooms are very clean and tidy. One-person bathrooms, by the way, with still nice decorations such as paintings of sunsets. All over the place, in fact! Very fitting for the Bistro. Food does take a little while sometimes, it depends on what you choose, but the atmosphere is great for casual conversation, and there's a lot of TVs in the background, not too intrusively, but just nice if you're too bored. Just a fun thing I want to mention, with the kid's meals comes a free popsicle, on your way out all you have to do is ask for it. They give you a little lid on the stick itself to stop drips. All in all, a perfect place to dine with friends and family alike. If you've got family coming in from out of town, 100%...
Read moreWe do enjoy checking out different little restaurants as we travel, and this one far exceeded our expectations. Not from the area at all but had stopped to visit Simpson Gardens and Sunset Bistro, a local family owned restaurant, was close by, had great reviews and the menu had a wonderful variety. Husband ordered the glazed maple pork chop with salad & the French fries and I got the seared perch with the creamy garlic & mushroom rice and the cauliflower & peas hash browns. I do love trying new foods, and those 2 sides sounded intriguing and completely different than anything I’ve tried before. And none of our foods disappointed, my 2 sides were so different, flavorful & delicious that I was really glad I tried them, and the perch with the homemade tartar sauce with a touch of dill was perfect! My husband said all of his was delicious as well (and I couldn’t resist a few of his yummy fries) and he agreed it was a great place & was happy we had picked this restaurant! Prudy was very sweet & so personable! She was the friendliest, most knowledgeable, helpful and prompt waitress we’ve ever encountered. Informed us how all the sauces are homemade & every dish is made fresh when ordered, from scratch. The pork chop was purchased this morning from the local butcher and you can’t get much fresher than that! If we weren’t completely full, we would’ve tried the dessert she told us about, that was a new recipe one of their new employees (a recent grad from Owen’s Culinary School) had whipped up. I’m sure it would have been amazingly delicious also! Plus they’ve had the same main chef since they opened which is amazing, especially these days! If ever in Bowling Green again we will definitely return, thank you very much for an enjoyable &...
Read moreWorst experience of my life. Just left Sunset Bistro. We ordered over the phone and the owner was very short. Unfortunately I have heard disappointing things about the owners attitude before, so I was hesitant to place the order to begin with. There was a miscommunication over the phone so when we picked up the meal… It was not correct. Sadly, She continued to argue with my husband about the order....when instead, she should have apologized for the miscommunication… And did whatever she needed to do to make it right. I went back inside and handed her my meal (untouched and uneaten) and asked nicely for my money back for the meal. I told her that there was a miscommunication but because of how sour the events turned… I would like my money back. but she absolutely refused to give me my money back!! She handed me four dollars for what I did not order… But she continued to argue with me and refused to give me my money back for that meal. she must have argue with me for a solid five minutes in front of other customers. So sad. I have worked in the food and beverage industry almost my whole life… And the number one thing you do is keep the customer happy. If someone is unhappy or unsatisfied… You fix the problem. Find a solution. You do not argue with them. And you do not refuse to give them their money back. I would not be writing this unless I was completely shocked by her behavior, attitude and how she handled it. Very disappointed. 😞 i’m sure the food is great. And I’m sure a lot of you have had great experiences. We truly wanted to support a local hometown business.....but no one deserves to be treated like we were. We spent a lot of money on these meals... The solution was simple. We will...
