Good Boy Po'boys — Restaurant in Brandon

I have been 5 times now and Good Boy Po-Boy has gotten progressively worse. The first time I went(opening day 2/1/23), It was good, a little heavy on the gravy but as long as it tastes good, give it to me. I likened it to Pirate's Cove in Pass Christian and that is a good thing.

It has been a disaster since. Inconsistent sandwiches, a lot of gravy then hardly any gravy, ask for mayo, get barely any mayo, roast beef is cold, etc. Ask for some gravy on the side and get told no. Could Good Boy Po-Boy be something? Maybe, but I can't afford to go back. The sandwiches are too expensive to take the chance that it might be just okay all the way to down right bad. The chips are nonedible, I applaud trying to make your own but they are over salted every time. Give me some gravy to dip those chips in because by themselves they stink. Broma chips in Brookhaven, that is the way to make your own chips!

The idea is great, I want to be able to go downtown and eat at a local sandwich shop, I live right down the street. It really is not worth your time or money. Maybe for $2.50 less a sandwich I could afford to roll the dice but not at these prices. Drinks are expensive everywhere but at least give me something larger than a shot glass to drink from, and stop charging my kid full price for a CUP of water, that is offensive. Charge me for the cup but not soda price for fountain water.

Lastly, the service has ranged from not great to bad. Perhaps they are always one worker short and that leads to the counter person feeling annoyed she has customers but it is no fun to overpay for spotty food and rude service.

No one is a bigger fan of sandwiches than I but I don't think this will be it. And even if it got better, I have been burned enough, I wont go back. I am willing to have my mind changed but it is a pretty steep hill to climb, like trying to push a car up East Jasper!

The worst customer service. I visited this location Sunday Dec. 19 and today Sunday Dec 26. The same lady, who appeared to be a manger, was behind the counter both days. This lady gave my husband and myself all the attitude. Last Sunday, the gentleman who cooks the food went above and beyond by walking behind the counter and assisting us with the menu. I feel this should be the cashier and Managers job, but instead they were annoyed that we had never been there and were unfamiliar with the menu. They walked to the side of the counter, behind the cupcakes, and were whispering to each other while glancing our direction. I’m sure you can only imagine how that made us feel. Today I asked for the breakfast sandwich and when the cashier asked how I would like my eggs I replied with,”fried egg whites.” That same manager responded,”we don’t cook egg whites.” I explained how I was here last weekend and that was not what I was told when I made THE SAME REQUEST. The manager proceeds with,”The lady who is cooking the food today doesn’t make egg whites. You can request it, but she may not do it.” Please explain to me how this makes sense? I have to order food that the cook feels like making? Do you not understand how much easier it is to cook egg whites than the sunny side up my husband requested? If I was the owner I would consider finding a replacement of both the cashier and manager at this location. These two individuals are the face of your business and currently it’s looking pretty bad. Until the front staff are replaced, I will not come back or suggest to anyone I know that this is a good local business that deserves...

I don't want to think race played a part in this but I can't help it feel like it did I mean this is Brandon so I went to Good Boy Po Boys today and ordered one sandwich when I went in there were maybe three people who had already been served so I placed my order two white ppl come in after me and they placed orders also so I sat and I waited and the first man was served ok I didn't think anything of it and so I went next door to Genna Benna to get my mom some catfish and when I came back my sandwich still wasn't ready so I waited and the second man was served and I was still just standing there. I work in the restaurant business so I understand patience but they were not busy and it was just a sandwich so why was my mom's order ready before my sandwich was. So I ask for a refund she goes to the back and stays for about 5 minutes and she finally comes out with the manager and all of the sudden my sandwich is put on the counter. Why did it take me asking for a refund to get service? Mind you I was the only brown person in there and these people ordered after me and got their food.Then when I said I was going to call and speak to the owner the manager says ok whatever you do that.
