This is the type of place that I break my diet for, once a year. I was ravenous after a long work day and this restaurant was right by my dermatologist’s office. I had an hour to kill before my afternoon appointment and stopped in for lunch. The menu is standard diner fare- burgers, fries, breakfast options, and a couple of salads. I ordered one of the “John’s specials” offerings, a super stuffed chicken burrito with green sauce, and half and half fries and onion rings. The food was delicious, hot and fresh, and flavorful. The meat was fresh, the veggies were crisp and juicy, the avocado was perfect. The fries and onion rings were crispy, hot and thick—- my favorite. Portions are big. I was full after a few bites and took everything home. The young man behind the counter was delightful, very polite and attentive. The decor was standard vinyl booths, plain tables, unadorned ambiance, but there is a charm to that. It was spotlessly clean, the young man who took my order was making sure all the tables were spotless, when he wasn’t helping patrons, he was spraying down and wiping up tables. The restrooms were spotlessly clean, too— the air smelled of disinfectant. Parking is plentiful and the air conditioner was powerful, a must for the insanely hot north OC days. I really enjoyed my lunch and would like to try the...
Read moreFirst time visiting John's Place in Brea and will unfortunately be the last time not because of the food but because of one employee who's name I didn't get. When I arrived I was attended to by a lady that was nice at the register she was nice I placed my order and sat down I then went back because my daughter's saw their deserts so I went back to order some. There was another lady a bit younger then the first cashier with bad eyebrows. There was an older gentleman standing at register and I was waiting behind him for some reason she felt the need to raise her voice and ask me "Va ordenar algo mas" as if me being in line offended her. Lady raised her voice 2 times before I responded in the same manner and when I replied in the same tone she did she said "if your going to come here with an attitude don't come here at all" To which I replied I that I was only responding to her the same way she was talking to me. I don't know if she thought I didn't understand English or thought I wouldn't talk back to her that she thought she could raise her voice at me. Like I said food was good but beware the lady with the funky eyebrows hate to say it but because she was a Latina felt like she was hostile towards me for being Latino to. John's Place food wise good but that 1 employee made it a...
Read moreI have driven by John's Place dozens of times and finally stopped in tonight. I had a Burger, Onion Rings and Chocolate Cake. Compared to most Diner-type restaurants the Burger was twice as thick, juicy and flavorful. It is the best Burger in it's class! I ordered the Onion Rings well done (I like them a little browner than usual) and they were delicious! Crispy, Light, with the most flavorful batter coating ever. I will go back just for these. On the way in I looked at the Dessert Case. There was Cheesecake, Chocolate Cake, Pumpkin Pound Cake, Muffins and more. Everything looked amazing and I ordered a piece of the Chocolate Cake. The Chocolate Cake was incredible! Rich, Fudgy and Fresh! At most restaurants like this desserts are an afterthought and are usually awful. I can't believe how great this Chocolate Cake tasted. It is better than the Cheesecake Factory's Chocolate Cakes. I can't wait to try their other Desserts and their Shakes. Excellent Service and Ambience. This is a neighborhood gem and you have to try it. Bravo...
