Covered in Chocolate Bakery — Restaurant in Breese

The first time I came to this establishment was to order a dozen infused strawberries for Valentine's Day. When I walked in I was confused on where to go at first but figured it out. The desserts looked delectable behind the counter but there was no signage and no pricing to tell me about what I was looking at. The young girl behind the counter wasn't very pleasant or helpful, but I ordered my strawberries, indicating what day I would be in to pick them up. Fast forward to pickup (about 2 weeks later)..went in aware of where to go this time and there was a different woman behind the counter so was hoping for a better experience..and was let down. I waited for her to answer 3 phone calls before she helped me. They didn't have my order ready or notated anywhere but went ahead and boxed me up a dozen after asking when I had even ordered them. I wanted to order a latte off the menu and was rudely informed that they weren't doing coffee the week before valentine's because they are too busy. According to their website and Facebook page they are also a bistro. I went in during their open hours and tried to order something on the menu only to be told no. For our wedding, working with Covered in Chocolate was a mixed bag. Their cupcakes are absolutely the most delicious and rich cupcakes we've ever tasted, and they were super accommodating and in the end gave us exactly what we asked for. They said we could choose pretty much anything we wanted, whereas a lot of places only have certain flavors and fillings, so that is a huge plus. We wanted butterbeer cupcakes, gave them a few example recipes and they turned out absolutely perfect. We asked for certain fillings in different colors and they did exactly that. In the end they delivered for sure. However, the process to get there was a nightmare. We had the worst time trying to get in contact and communicate with them. Every time we called they would say they're busy and would call us back later, but they never did. We had our wedding coordinator step in with the communication at the end and it all worked out, but certainly something to be aware of ahead of time. All in all, we would still go with them and recommend them, and especially if you're not trying to have an event but just want to go in and get some cupcakes,...

After encountering them at a tasting event for our venue, we chose Covered in Chocolate to provide the dessert bar at our recent annual gala. BEST. DECISION. EVER! They were incredibly easy to work with, from the tasting to the consultation, through the calls and emails, and finally to the setup on the day of the event. The desserts were DELICIOUS and even served as a design element. They matched the colors of our event perfectly. It was amazing to see how often people took pictures of the dessert table—we saw it a LOT that night. As soon as dinner was done, guests flocked to the dessert table until it was completely empty.
