I think this little diner does a good job of representing it's 3.5 star ranking. We've come here as a family over a dozen times now, and our experience has always been between 3 and 4 stars, consistently. I like consistency, and I like that I can depend on this place to deliver A-OK food at A-OK prices with A-OK service, each and every time. We have yet to have a disappointing experience here. Everything is just, pleasant. And there's nothing wrong with that.
We've made this place our go-to stop before we go grocery shopping. We try to follow the rule of not going grocery shopping hungry, so we come here, get lunch or breakfast, walk over to the Red Apple Market next door and then head to WinCo to complete our ritual. There's always plenty of parking, and even during busy times, there seems to be at least one table left for us. We haven't had to wait yet. It's very convenient being right next to the Red Apple Market.
The food is just always OK as I mentioned before. Every time I go, I do admit that, once I start eating, I wish I had ordered something else. I've tried many items on the menu and have found that the bacon and blue cheese wedge salad is my favorite item. We've had breakfast, and lunch items off the menu and they all do the job. Nothing mind bending or amazing, and some things are worse than others. We ordered a dessert there once even, and it was comically huge. It came with 4 scoops of ice cream and several toppings, it ended up looking like something out of a movie or a food challenge t.v. show. Three of us couldn't finish it. It was a good value for the price though, so if you're in the mood for a big dessert to share with your family, order one here!
If you are looking for a place to come regularly, expecting to never be let down, to always be treated with somewhere in between indifference and a luke-warm smile from the servers, to leave fairly satisfied and glad that you didn't really waste your money...stop by Big...
Read moreI ordered food to-go at this diner a few months ago and I was extremely disappointed, but I thought it was just a fluke so I decided to try this place again. I was appalled and extremely disappointed by not only the customer service but the lack of care by the staff in general this second time. Kayla took my order over the phone, she told me a time in which the food would be ready, come to find out it was another 15 minutes on top of what she already told me (25 minutes compared to her 10-15min quote). As I was waiting for my food, I noticed how blatantly rude she was to the customers coming into the restaurant. I get it, customer service is stressful and working in a restaurant is ten times more stressful. However, as the host, you are the first thing people see when you walk in. Maybe smile or acknowledge the lobby instead of yelling WHO ISNT ON THE LIST? Next, I get my food home and come to find out, I didn't get what I ordered. I was visiting someone who lives 30 mins away and I don't live nearby as it is. I called and got someone who passed the phone to Kayla, I told Kayla my issue (I didn't get what I ordered) and instead of putting me on hold to find help I heard her say AMANDA, TAKE THIS, I CANT DEAL WITH THIS. I asked Amanda if she can give me a refund of the food I didn't get, she said she cant do that without the card and she offered to give me cash next time I come in or a "voucher" for a future visit. Amanda went over my order with me and Kayla was arguing with me through Amanda saying I didn't say that, etc. Needless to say, I will never come to this restaurant ever again. I don't complain to get free food, but I wanted what I paid for. Amanda did the best she could with an error Kayla made. Kayla needs to be better trained when it comes to customer service in the food industry. If you are going to be doing to-go's, maybe you need to double check the order before you hurry people on their way. I will NOT recommend this...
Read moreTAKE A PASS - Stopped in tonight for dinner. There were 5 tables with 4 waitstaff. I was with my husband and we each ordered the half sandwich and cup of soup. My husband asked what soup choices there were and was told clam chowder or chicken noodle. We both ordered the clam chowder. I asked if I could get a tuna melt and was told yes. I replied ‘oh good I don’t feel like a sandwich with two pieces of bread’. It took about 15min to get the plates delivered. Well the soup tasted right out of a can. As you might suspect my tuna melt arrived as a sandwich not open faced. My husband went to pay and we were up charged for the clam chowder and I was up charged for the clam chowder and the cheese on the tuna melt. Seriously, how do you make a tuna melt without cheese? And why weren’t we advised when offered the soup that choosing clam chowder from a can would be up charged? The explanation - they were running around so busy and we could find it on the menu! Well, if we needed to ask what the soup was we clearly did not see it on the menu. They felt arguing was appropriate and kept insisting they had been so busy they didn’t have time to tell us. I said there are only 5 tables with people at them and there are 4 of you standing here how can this be considered busy? I eat out often, multiple times a week with my travel at work this is the first time in 20years I asked my husband not to leave a tip. On the way home he said ‘this is the first time I have heard you say the food was terrible, usually when you don’t care for it you just say it was ok’. That lets you know that is was more than a disappointment it is a place...
