The service was stressed, I got very bad vibes from the environment. My food was not good, tasted like grease and the insides where there was suppose to be “meat” were mushy, a horrible texture and grease dripping out into my mouth when I tried to eat. I did not eat my food and was still charged more than half of the cost for the meal, for the bread and French fries that were undercooked. The women at the counter where you pay were in the process of being extremely rude to the two men in front of us, an older gentleman and his father, she was barking orders at the older man and the son felt inclined to say he is hard of hearing, she did not apologize nor correct her attitude. She then started barking orders at myself and my co workers on paying. I have never been to a restaurant that would charge someone when they were not able to eat their food. Also I felt a little sick the rest of the day and all I ate was a few French fries. My co workers also said they felt a little sick to their stomach. In having to pay, The server told us that “ she talked to the owner and he is charging me for the fries and bread which is the better deal”. In which I did not eat, and she took the plate with the bread I paid for and the inedible chicken and said “ I will take that home to feed to my dog”. (Poor dog) I don’t know if they are short staffed or why the workers there are so scattered and rude. I will not eat there again due to it being such a bad experience. I had lunch there once a week for sometime now, because it it close to where I work, the food was decent and came out fast. I hope the owner is happy with the $4.61 cents I was charged for having my lunch ruined and lost a customer. I think their attitude is they are busy enough so who cares and it showed today. I have been a server and worked in restaurants for many years prior, and would never have behaved like the people that worked there, and “if” it was the owner that sat back and was like well this guests lunch was ruined but charge for the fries and the bread I am pretty sure there are a lot of problems with the food and cleanliness in this...
Read moreI was at the Olive Garden when a young man overheard me talking to the bartender about wanting some good barbque. He interjected, telling me that Smokey's Bar-b-que was the cleanest place he had ever worked. He also stated he loved the family and felt like they were the best employers he had ever worked for. He didn't stop there. He told me they made EVERYTHING homemade, unlike Sonny's barbque that brings in a lot of already prepared foods.
So, I went there. I ordered enough food to last a few days. It was all good except the corn on the cob. It tasted rancid. 100% did not eat it. I love me some COTC too.
They make their own deserts too (which is almost unheard of.) The keylime pie was light and delicious. The "nana puddin" sent me down memory lane with my Grandmother.
But let's get back to the Bar-b-que. Meat was tasty, the ribs were tender, and the sauces, also homemade, were sooooo good!
Aside from the taste of the food, and the nostalgic pricing, the knowledge that I am supporting a pensacola owned business, I will fasten my seat belt in that direction, for many years to come.
Check their times for being open. Just because it is Saturday night, it doesn't mean you be seated in dining. They close at 3. But you can go through the...
Read moreWe needed a fast meal last night in Pensacola. This place was less than a mile from our hotel so we used the drive-thru. All we wanted was a barbecue sandwich. That's not possible here. You have to get a sandwich with a side and not just a sandwich. That was really irritating. Then, I told the man that I wanted coleslaw on my sandwich. I live in Arkansas. I thought coleslaw on your sandwich was a southern thing but these people are apparently Yankees. They looked at me like I was nuts and said no. They said that I would have to buy a side of coleslaw. I told them that all I wanted was a tablespoon or two on my sandwich and that an entire side would be wasted but I was willing to pay for it. They said it didn't matter and I would have to buy the entire side. He said that he wouldn't even put the side of coleslaw on my sandwich and that I had to do it myself. I like my coleslaw to sit on there a few minutes while I drive back to the hotel so it blends in. We almost drove off and found someplace new. However, we did get it and it was delicious. The fries are wonderful as are the baked beans. The sandwich was really good although I wish I had been able to put on my own...
