After searching online for a new place to eat around the Brewster area, I came across Cafe Alfresco. I read the reviews and had high hopes for this place. I entered the establishment and was immediately hit with this boring vibe. The setting was very drab and uninspiring. There seemed to be no music of any kind playing so it was quiet and uninviting. The menu was very limited, offering basic sandwiches and panini's that any other lunch joint would have. I had yet to try the food so I wasn't going to let the first impression finalize my opinion.
I was greeted by the front man to place my order. He was very amiable in a robotic way. I ordered a simple chicken salad wrap, hoping it was going to exceed my expectations. The wait was pleasantly fast. The sandwich on the other hand, not so pleasant.
The look of the sandwich was very boring and bland. The wrap looked dry and was falling apart. Still holding onto hope, I took a bite. I was shocked at the amount of mayo that was in the chicken salad. The flavor of the mayo was all I could taste. Not only was there an absurd amount of mayo in the chicken salad, there was a layer of mayo lining the wrap. Another poor aspect of the sandwich was the tomato, it was soggy and mushy making the wrap soggy as well. I wish there was a special dressing or sauce to jazz up the sandwich, and not something spicy like the peppers which are available. If I was served this in a cafeteria, that would be fine, but I expect more from a cafe.
My overall experience at Cafe Alfresco was poor, the only thing good about my meal was the bag of chips that come with...
Read moreJust had lunch here, and my household is already plotting an excuse to come back. The place is located to the right of the Cook Shop. But don't let the place's appearance fool you - it may look small, but inside's cozy and the food's big on flavor.
Case in point - one of their specials is the meatloaf sandwich, and it's freaking AWESOME. The meatloaf's juicy and super flavorful, and the bread's perfectly toasted. My nephew and I devoured our sandwiches like it was going out of style. Meanwhile, my husband ordered the Turkey Club and he said this place's version is the best he's eaten. And the fries (both regular and sweet potato) were generously sized and seasoned perfectly. Not gonna lie, I'm munching on the remaining sweet potato fries as I write this review despite being stuffed.
And the staff are super friendly and efficient. We weren't initially sure what to get so it was great to get recommendations on what to try out.
It's definitely worth the visit. We come up to the Cape twice a year and always visit the shops near this cafe. And this will definitely be our new pit stop for food. (And please keep the meatloaf sandwich on rotation. My nephew said it's way better than mine, and I'm gonna have to...
Read moreThere aren’t enough words to express how happy my boyfriend and I were with our experience at Cafe Alfresco. From the incredible food (so good we kept coming back), to the attentive and friendly staff, we couldn’t have been happier!
We were initially thrilled to see they offered vegetarian options when looking for a place to grab breakfast our first day out on the Cape. He ended up being very happy with his breakfast sandwich, and I absolutely loved my avocado toast. The quality and taste had us come back the next day for lunch, where we both ordered the Caprese, and wow! One of the best sandwiches I’ve had! We were both so disappointed we had to leave the Cape a day early due to an obligation at his workplace, otherwise we would have been back again for a third time! Until next time though! And until next time I will be dreaming of biting into that Caprese again!
And thank you so much to Jimmy for making us feel so welcomed, and being so kind overall! We can’t wait to be back and have your delicious food in the near future. Anyone who is in the area has to make a stop here! The food, the staff,...
