Mama's Patties — Restaurant in Bridgeport

This beautiful brisk Pride Month morning, i woke up with the fridge running low and a hunger for something rich. I went with local Jamaican flavor instead of Taco Bell, and ordered up some curry goat and coco bread. Never tried rum cake before, so I was curious and added that, too.

My whole fam’s down with some sort of sickness and feeling too sluggish to do much of anything, so I just quietly picked up my bag and went up to eat… but then I saw that rich, dark, dense rum cake and went “they need some of this, too.”

Got mom n her bf some saltfish (bf’s muslim so we went with seafood), ackee (jamaican classic!), calaloo, and enough tasty sides to keep us fed for half the day (only five extra dollars for six whole sides? What a steal!)

They even called me up sweetly and said the cabbage wasn’t ready this early in the morning, ‘n asked if i wanted a replacement. So sweet. They asked for a good write-up, so I’m gonna say this:

It was my family and I first time buying from this place! I spent $69 on 2 medium oxtail dinners 1 large curry goat dinner and 1 large oxtail dinner. I delivered everyone's dinner to them , 1 ate all of her medium dinner without looking through her meal. My granddaughter didn't eat hers but my daughter started eating hers because she was very hungry. Once she was half way through, she noticed something in her food so we put it under the bright light and to find it was a worm🤢. I immediately tried calling the restaurant but they were closed so I called the next morning and explained to the young lady who answered the phone what we found in my daughter's food and she said' that's not possible, its not a worm 🐛 it's something that comes from the inside of a oxtail bone, her voice was very aggressive towards me. I decided to change it to the game and take the loss but I promise you we would never ever eat from this place again. They do not take pride in the cleanliness or appearance of their establishment. The food is old and slimey and when brought to their attention the blame is put on the customer for not telling them "before it is served". How could a person know food is bad before it is served? They have no respect for their fellow human, who chose to try their food with hard earned money to support a black business in the community. It is so disappointing to not even be offered an apology let alone refund. Will never come here again, i feel like i donated money to a place that does not care or respect customers at a basic level. So extremely disappointing and i do not say this with any hate or malice in my heart, it is just the truth. I hope they can do better and i know people make mistakes sometimes so i sincerely wish them well and hope things change...
