A Friend of ours told us about this hole in the wall place, I never miss out in those types of restruants, because they are the BEST! So we came all the way from Jefferson County to see what the brag was about on this place⦠I notice some people commented the food was a bit bland, well I have to say to them, Go TO MEXICO. REAL AUTHENTIC MEXICAN FOOD IS BLAND . You are eating UNAUTHENTIC Mexican food if it isn't bland. Ok so our Family Loved this place, each one of us had a different plate, there was 6 of us, I had the Tacos de la cavesa, a good old favorite of mine from my first husband who was from Jalisco, Mexico and My Nana who cooked it a lot it's my favorite my children tried a bite and said that's what they will order next time delish!! My 84 yr old mom had the enchiladas and she not too much on spice, so that blandness from Mexico is perfect for her belly!! My husband and middle son had the steak dinner they said it was perfectly cooked and seasoned, we asked for the rojo sauce because they love the Mexican sauce. And my disabled child had a Humungous burrito just like I remember from my first husband and our trips to Jalisco to see his familia ( Que Dios descanse su Alma, May God rest his soul) this little place to din in is wonderful reminds me of Mexico, fans and Mexicans music and yes it takes time to prepare and cook Good food this is not a fast food restruant where things sit on top of the stove warming all day, this is a cook to order restruant and that how it's done in Mexico for the most part the smaller towns got it right! If you're looking for a really Great place to Eat some REALLY AUTHENTIC MEXICAN FOOD, this is THE PLACE! Best not be in A Hurry Either, it's cooked the best way! Per...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI don't understand the hype behind this place. This is my third and final time trying this place over the last decade and every time the food has been bland and the service has been lackluster. Yet, I hear about this place being one of the top Mexican restaurants in St Louis. I don't even think it is in the top 5 of Mexican restaurants within a couple miles of itself.
The food and salsa both are barely flavored. There are no notes or hints of anything. One of the Mexican salsas is pretty spicy but that is it. It has no accompanying notes that make it taste of anything else and the others don't even have that. The service is also the most lackluster I have experienced at almost any sit down restaurant ever. It gives more of a McDonald's feel where you can just tell no employee wants to be there and they hate every minute of their lives while they are there.
Nobody in the entire place seems to care and apparently they are right to not care because for some reason people still think highly of this rather garbage tier Mexican restaurant. If you are in the area I recommend anyone else nearby such as King Burrito, El Mexiquense, El Tenampa, El Guanaco, or Sabor. These are all nearby and better than this low...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI wouldnāt recommend this place. My aunt, friend, and I had a terrible experience. My friend and I ordered quesadillas, and the cheese wasnāt even melted on either of them. My aunt took a bite of her food and found a whole piece of plastic in it. She asked the waiter to take it back and remake it, which they did without issue.
We didnāt want to be a hassle, so we didnāt say anything about our quesadillas. When we went to pay, my aunt asked how much it was, and the cashier was really passive and gave us attitude. Honestly, she should have gotten her meal for free since there was plastic in it! But she didnāt want to make a big deal out of it. None of us could even finish half of our food because it was so disgusting.
When we got home, I couldnāt stop running to the bathroom, feeling nauseous with terrible stomach pain. My aunt and best friend ended up with food poisoning too. It was...
