I have been hearing about this place for quite some time, but I just finally got a chance to stop in. A friend and I popped in for an impromptu late night bite. Well, not super late but past dinner time. We did call ahead of time and they told us the kitchen closes at 10 so we had a little over an hour to get our snack. We bumped in to some friends who were raving about pretty much the whole menu! It took us a little while to narrow it down because everything looks so wonderful. We didn’t want to eat anything too big so we got the pork roll fries and we also ordered the Irish nachos. I did think the pork roll fries were going to be similar to scrapple fries I have had elsewhere. Scrapple fries are just strips of scrapple cut into fry shapes and then French fried. However, the pork roll fries here did have nice generous fry shaped chunks of pork roll, but it was also mixed in with regular french fries with a delicious cheese sauce overtop. While these pork roll fries were extremely delicious and I enjoyed them, I don’t think I would’ve also ordered the Irish nachos had I known that there were actual potato fries in with the pork roll fries. Needless to say we had a lot of potato going on, so we took a lot of it home. Everything was very good! Can’t wait to come back a little earlier and try some other heartier fare. I was excited to see that they had chili and the soup of the day when we were in there was stuffed pepper and that sounds great. Also, there was a rib special on the board that people were raving about all the employees, and there were extremely nice and the place was on the smallish side but super cute. We are really looking forward to coming back...
Read moreThe Pines Tavern is a modest-sized place, a bit intimate where the bar and dining area of tables and chairs share the same room. We arrived during the mid afternoon where there were tables and bar stools available. We chose to sit at the bar. We were promptly greeted by the pleasant bar staff where our food and drink requests were quickly filled. Our appetizer and sandwiches came out quickly. Everything that we had ordered met or exceeded our expectations. I typical do not reveal what was ordered because food is subjective. What I like, and how I like it, may not be what other people enjoy. I more or less base my judgements on whether or not the food met or or exceeded the quality of what I might expect from most places serving similar dishes. The Pines definitely met and in some cases exceeded. Draft beer is a big deal to me. Sometimes you may not be getting what you ask for because you have no idea what they're pumping through their taps. There are a lot of places that try to get away with this. But I do know the taste of certain beers and I do know that I received what I asked for and it was cold and fresh. This was a very nice stop, Pleasant staff, good food and cold beer. I would like to stop at The Pines...
Read moreI’m just going to say it. When you drive by the little green house, at the point of the fork in the road, you think the record player may scratch if a stranger walks in the door. However, every time we drove by, no matter the time of day, the parking lot is full of cars. One day I said to my hubs, “Hey, we’re friendly people. I want to know why they’re always busy. Let’s go make friends with the Pines folks”
I’m so glad we did. The record player didn’t scratch, the patrons were of all ages, some with kids, and the people who worked there were all so friendly and nice. Oh, and the food?! I don’t even want to tell you because I still want to be able to get a table once the pandemic calms itself. However, I will. I have not had anything there that hasn’t been fantastic. They always have interesting specials. They’re alcoholic beverages are well priced. We love their Pountine Fries, The Short Rib Grilled Cheese, Hot Cowboy, burgers, it’s all good! All of it! We have been back quite a few times and will keep on going. So glad we decided to stop by the little...
