I waited until I had a few visits to the Bristol Amish Market before I wrote my review. Of course there is the Amish influence that gives this place its unique atmosphere but there is also something else that makes this group of vendors worthy of being a worthwhile destination. At each of my visits the place was packed with us non-Amish customers looking to buy some extremely fresh whatever. There are all kinds of baked items, fresh meat products, candy, popcorn, deli meats, seafood, produce, even furniture and patio products, etc. And if you're looking for a quick snack there are those as well along with some tables to eat at. Having said all that I find the Amish people who work within the individual shops to be polite and pleasant people with whom I enjoy doing business. Whenever I interact with someone there I get the sense that this person is really interested in giving me good service. You can't say that about most businesses today. When I leave this place I feel as if I got good quality products for my money and I actually enjoyed the visit. I'd give this place a try, and don't rush, take some time to enjoy meeting the people and having a different kind of...
Read morePrices are ridiculous especially for meat. I asked if there were any antibiotics or estrogen in meat and was told they didn't know! Also I have seen their trucks at the food distribution center in Philadelphia picking up produce. I really enjoyed the seafood platters until one day while two other customers watched, the owner reached in with bare hands and mixed up a new pan of scallops with what was in the pan. No distancing and no masking required and sometimes you are in there shoulder to shoulder with people. Used to buy the fresh cut fries at sandwich corner but last two times the oil was old and the fries were dark and disgusting. Berries are horrible looking, and over-priced and open for people. I watched in horror as customers were eating grapes and berries right from bags and boxes in the line and when another customer complained a vulgar exchange followed. I used to go there once a week for pot pies and seafood until one day after reading ingredients from "homemade" pot pies they were filled with preservatives and chemicals. How can that be "homemade". The only decent food handling I see in there is the donut shop as they use gloves and/or paper to put...
Read moreWonderful market. They have an unbeatable selection of meat, cheeses, bakery products, ingredients, sauces, etc. They also have a surprising range of items, from fish and seafood, vegetables etc. My wife and I do most of our grocery shopping here or at the Newtown farmers market now. I guarantee that prices are better than your local chain of grocery store and the quality is on another level. I can't even eat regular deli products anymore, I only get deli from the Amish markets.
There is only one reason I gave this 4 starts and perhaps it isn't entirely fair. The market is insanely crowded when they are open and they are only open the second half of the week basically. It's very cramped and crowded and wait times can be long. However the workers are extremely nice and hard working, and they move through their lines as fast as anyone could want. They basically need a big location is all, aka they are too successful!
They also have fun and interesting areas such as the furniture store; beautiful Amish made pieces. Expensive but I imagine worth it. It's nice just looking...
