I hate giving such low ratings but I do this so that someone else doesn't experience, what we did..the food is decen that's why I didn't give a 1 star . Anyways, here's my experience... on a Wednesday night we stopped at the brockton location, for a couple of pizzas and a salad. Bc it's quick and I didn't feel like cooking.. I placed my order, ordered 2 pizzas & a salad to go at 5 o-clock. We were told 20-25 minutes. Nbd! It looked fairly busy.. so I met my husband outside at our truck, and waited in their parking lot. 30 min passes, so I head in to get the food. Now, it's really busy..but everyone looks like they're just waiting..I ask about our order, and I was told it'll be out shortly..well another 15 min passes by, people are placing more orders, ppl getting their food.. but I'm not! I ask about our name again...and this time, the two girls are talking about how "my order" was never actually sent to the kitchen..so then I'm told that my order hasn't even been into the oven yet.. so back outside I go.. I was annoyed but what can I do...? I realize things happen, so I just go back and explain this to my husband.. and so we wait. another 25-35 min goes by and I head back in for the 2nd time to hopefully get our food! I waited...and waited...and waited.. people are coming in, picking up food, placing orders, everyone's getting their food again..except for me!!! Now, I've had enough.. it's been over an hour and a half, so I express this to the worker. She was very nice, she apologized for the mess, and thanked me for being so nice and polite about it all.. but I mean really, how can you do this to people lol..it's now past 7:00, my toddler needs to go to bed, we haven't eaten dinner yet, when we ordered at 5, it's a work night and we are still waiting at cape cod pizza, without our food?!? Its complete BULL.. Clearly they were way beyond backed up.. to wait, over 1 hour and a half, for 2 pizzas and a salad.. nevermind it costing $50 lol..wth.. it was a Wednesday.. a work night.. and some people grab takeout bc its quick! We just wanted to have a quick easy dinner to take home.. we chose cape cod pizza...and that was the wrong place to choose. We got back home and ate dinner at 8.. and we usually are getting ready for bed at that time.. my toddler couldn't eat bc it was too late.. what a mess!! When we ordered at 5.. not cool! Please, don't say 20-25 minutes for takeout, when it's really going to be over an hour..making people wait like that is redic! And we had already paid so it was as if we were stuck there.. "I'm sorry" doesn't really sound so great.. that's awful business.. please, don't say sorry if nothing is done about an issue.. This business has been around way too long to have this sort of problem.. hire more staff...if there's a party scheduled then, hire accordingly!?!? And idk, maybe stop taking orders, if you're that behind! Easy, Restaurant 101... our Wednesday night was Ruined, bc we chose to get a quick pizza..lol we...
Read moreGood experience overall in an area landmark that's been around since 1939. The service was friendly, the food was good and I totally see why they've been around for over 84 years.
Their menu is relatively straightforward with sandwiches, salads, pizzas, burgers and they also have a couple of daily specials that are on a board near the bar, which we didn't see til we made our way out after eating. Wish they had those printed with the menus.
The large Greek salad ($14.50) is massive and could easily be enough for four people. They're famous for it and it's one for the better ones I've had even though the tomatoes were out of season.
The Cheeseburger pizza ($15) was awesome and the combination of tomatoes, shredded, ground beef and American cheese works. It was my favorite pizza of the night.
The buffalo chicken pizza ($17.25) was decent but the big chunks of chicken were heavy and gave the slices a lot of flop. A small detail in the grand scheme of things but the sauce was also not very spicy.
The half cheese half pepperoni pizza ($12)was great and their pepperoni has a nice kick to it. It doesn't cup however because their pepperoni slices are massive.
All in all a good experience all around. I'd definitely return to try out some of their other offerings which includes a few creative bar pizza options like the Chicken...
Read moreI just received my order of Cape Cod Café frozen pizza through GoldBelly who ship anywhere in the USA. Here's what I wrote to them:
Cape Cod Café, which is located in Brockton, Massachusetts, invented the original bar pizza and has been making them since the 1940s. My mother told me she used to go there with her friends after school and her dad would stop in for a beer after work. Over the decades whenever I was visiting from my residence in UK, Arizona, or Chicago, it was always the first place I'd go to to meet family. Several times I actually had my dad send these pizzas to me using ice bags which were melted by the time they got to my address but somehow the pizza survived. Other times my visits back east would have me hauling several pizzas in my carry-on luggage. During one visit over a decade ago, I spoke to the owners and suggested they should have their pizzas available to order and shipped to people in dry ice. I also suggested making them available in local grocery stores. They eventually did both and even opened up several other cafés in the area, which have become very popular. So it looks like I wasn't the only one asking.
Anyway, if you ever get a chance, you should try one of these pizzas. You'll never go back to eating normal chain restaurant or frozen store-bought...
