My wife and I had only been in the Putterham Grille for a reception for a local photographer but the hors d'oeuvres were quite good so we thought we try it for dinner. And now we're glad we did. We cleverly went at 5:45 on a Tuesday so it was relatively quiet (although it filled up a good bit while we were there).
While waiting for our app, we enjoyed the bread dipped in olive oil. It seemed to be almost a lightly grilled pita but, whatever it was, it was very good. We shared the calamari appetizer and, as a calamari fan, it was outstanding - one of the best I've ever had. Lightly battered and perfectly fried, they were accompanied by a very tasty sauce with just the right amount of zip. My wife had the haddock special with risotto and it was rich and delicious. I had the lamb shank with risotto - also rich and delicious. We had plenty of leftovers for the next day. The wine, a nice tempranillo, was a generous pour - I'd guess 6 oz or so.
Service was attentive and friendly - kudos to Victor - and we will most certainly be back. Our only regret is that we waited so long to...
Read moreDelicious Mediterranean entrees are not the only offerings at Putterham Grille. The kitchen turns out diverse selections from American comfort foods to Greek and even Italian. This large assortment makes decision making difficult, but luckily there are no bad choices.
Meals begin here with a warm pita and olive oil and balsamic vinegar for dunking. The very best was their grilled salmon with melt-in-your-mouth creamy mashed potatoes and grilled asparagus. Made with lemon butter sauce, the salmon was exquisite and paired nicely with a chardonnay suggested by their knowledgeable staff.
Their traditional Greek desserts trump over the American counterparts. If the waitress suggest the Galaktoboureko, it is best to comply.
The staff is exceptionally welcoming and energetic. Happy to educate with which of their wines goes best with your meal, they encourage their guests to taste before buying. The owner of this wonderful addition to the Chestnut Hill restaurant scene makes sure all of his guest are treated with warmth and...
Read moreOverall, a great little spot. We live nearby and had never been. Our friends gave us a generous giftcard for the holidays and on a cold snowy night, we decided to check it out. The service was very quick and super friendly. I must say I was a little confused by the 2 giant coolers as soon as you walk in, but I am guessing they have a good lunch business. It looked more like a lunch counter than a sit down restaurant. We were seated quickly in the quiet dining room and we able to admire the art on the walls for sale. Always a nice touch. We started with soups and they were both delicious. I love French Onion and when its done right, it is awesome. This was a really good soup for such a cold night. My husband loved his lobster bisque as well. Our meals were large sized portions and we did take some home. The chicken parm...
