Maxhari’s Family Restaurant — Restaurant in Brownstown Charter Township

Every time I get anything there but a dinner they bring out a bread bowl that I don't ask for and charge me 2 bucks for something i didn't order and don't want . I have brought it up to there attention 2 or 3 times but it keeps happening. I ordered a bowl of chili and a hamburger which by the way cost more then a dinner and don't need the 2 pieces of bread in the bread bowl for that dish, but they brought out a bread bowl when I told the new waitress I didn't want to pay for the bread bowl for a few crackers that are in it she said it was free, but charged me 2 bucks under open food. I caught it a few times on my bill in the past and wonder are they doing that to every one and if they don't use it taking it back to the kitchen and giving it to someone else for another 2 bucks. I am not cheap and always tip well even tonight after being charged for something I didn't order and didn't want. Also this is the only restaurant in the area i get a burger from that the buns are falling apart before I take a bite like there old buns or maybe frozen to long. Other then this few issues I like the chili it's my favorite but if this keeps happening. The owner has responded to my post I do like the food I appreciate your response and will be back i would miss the chili I understand about charging for the bread basket but when ordering a chili please don't bring the basket out and not say that the cost is 2 buck I never use it and don't want to be charged. I Wanted to share our experience with this establishment. I sent my 14 yr old daughter in to pickup a carry out. She will be 15 in the next couple months so I'm trying to teach her independence. While waiting at the counter, one of their cooks around 30 yrs old kept gesturing for her to come here in the back by the kitchen, smiling licking his lips while looking her up and down. Her dad went up there the following day to just let the owner aware of the situation and say hey maybe he thought she was older but she's only 14 and he spooked her. Upon doing so they did not want to hear it and the male owner began to try to fight her dad?! And kick him out. So I tried to call up there and speak to the wife and she did not want to hear it either. I said mam, don't you even want to hear what happened. We are just trying to make you aware and to tell your cook to be careful hitting on someone as they may not be of age. She still didn't want to hear it and began to tell me to bring her back up there and have her talk to them. Which I said absolutely not. She also said everyone is family there and all happily married. They could have went about it in a different way. I just wanted to make them aware. As a business they should hold a higher standard. I went here today for the first time and was delightfully surprised by the menu! I ordered the kabob dinner which included very tasty rice and instead of having to remove chunks of chicken from skewers, very tasty pieces of perfectly seasoned juicy chicken filled my plate with the most delicious rice Ive ever had ...and I eat often at Mediteranian restaurants. The lemon rice soup was delicious and loaded with pieces of white chicken! I noticed multiple carry out orders of the soup while there. Easily the best lemon rice soup I have had in many years and will definitely remember this place when Im in the mood for a dinner of soup this winter! I ordered homemade backava to take home and it was the freshest backava Ive ever had. Needless to say, I will be a regular hereafter and will share with my friends and family. Its been so hard to find really good restaurants since COVID, so it was a refreshing experience to discover this gem. Its across from entrance to the Lake Erie Metropark which we frequent!
