Church's Texas Chicken — Restaurant in Brownsville

My mother and I visited this Church’s location recently, and unfortunately, it was the worst experience we’ve had there, and we’re usual regulars.

From the moment we walked in, the store felt unclean. The floors were sticky, and the overhead menu was not visible or working. We came in for the $5.99 1/2 smoked chicken meal advertised outside (which included a biscuit and jalapeño). My mother pointed to the poster when ordering, but the cashier asked if she wanted the combo. Assuming she meant the advertised deal, my mom agreed, only to be surprised when the total came out to $10.81. We realized later that the combo added a drink and side, but this was never explained. Still, we went along with it to avoid making a fuss.

I tried using my Church’s Rewards points for a 5-piece combo. This location always struggles with redeeming points, last time it didn’t even work, and I had to pay out of pocket. This time it eventually went through, but only after some delay.

When we filled our drinks, I noticed black flakes floating in the ice and soda. After checking under the ice chute, I saw a buildup of black grime. We dumped our drinks and refilled them without ice.

As for the food, it was deeply disappointing. The smoked chicken was extremely dry, overly salty, and flavorless despite the seasoning on top. The biscuits were tiny, smaller than usual, and not fresh. My tenders combo was mostly fried breading with barely any chicken inside, and the gravy was scalding hot and burned my tongue.

The restaurant was not only dirty but felt unwelcoming. The cashier had a stern, unfriendly demeanor, which made us hesitant to raise any concerns. We left feeling dissatisfied and uncomfortable.

This Church’s is close to home and has been our go-to spot, but after this visit, we’ll likely go elsewhere unless there are serious improvements. This was not the first time we've had problems here and it's almost like it gets worse with each visit, but we still give it an opportunity in case it's better the next time but unfortunately it...

This has to be one of the most tragic moments of my entire time coming to this place I usually like to go to the one by Boca chica that one is the best location in Brownsville in my opinion but the day that me and my grandparents and my aunt to win it was horrible the person who was charging me was extremely rude and gave me nothing but horrible service the food we couldn't even taste because of the smell of burnt plastic turns out that the air conditioning was on fire or burning down and the smoke was intense to the point where we couldn't even eat our food my grandmother couldn't breathe well and we had to leave the food and ask for a refund luckily for us the manager gave us our money back and we went to the Boca chica location hands down we are never going to go here again even though it's convenient...

Went for lunch today, there was 4 of us, restaurant was empty , we stood in front of counter and no one took our order, one of my coworkers asked if anyone was going to take our order, no one responded ; there was 2 people we could see. The team leader comes to the register and lets us know only he can take orders, takes my order, instead of preparing it, he goes to put some food to fry, then rearranges something in the food prep area, finally gets my order ready, instead of taking the rest of the orders, he goes back to rearrange items, it seemed as if he was doing this on purpose. I went to get my drink and the fountain machine was not working. We ended up leaving and going somewhere else. Customer service was horrible, especially the "team leader", not...
