Lafonda Mexican Kitchen — Restaurant in Bruce Township

I never leave reviews but I had SUCH a bad experience a review had to be left. For starters the interior was FILTHY every booth seat was held together with duct tape and the tables were dirty/hadn’t been properly wiped down. Chips and food were stuck within the duct tape from whoever sat previously. The cloth chairs were covered in stains. We would've left off of that alone …had we been more familiar with the area and saw more options nearby. They also had good ratings so we thought we’d stay and give it a try.

I ordered the beef chimichanga which was ok at best. My sister order the veggie chimichanga. She did not care for the veggie chimichanga because it was stuffed with basically only cauliflower and a tiny spec of broccoli. (None of which was expected in a veggie chimichanga) you’d think there would be peppers and onions and things of that nature. It tasted like a frozen bag at that so we sent it back to try and get something more enjoyable.

As we wait for her new order to come, we hear arguing at the bar. One of the servers (who happens to be our waitress) and the manager are arguing with a customer who is accusing our server of stealing her money. It turned into a pretty loud situation had all 3 tables there looking to see what was happening. The manager didn’t seem to diffuse the situation at all.

Our food comes out, we eat and wait for the bill. When the server comes with our bill she lets us know that she will be charging us half price for the veggie chimichanga that we did not eat. 😳We couldn’t believe it so we asked for the manager. We can see and hear the manager and our server talking about it at the bar…the manager has no urge to come to our table. We have to flag another server down to get our server as neither the manager or server decide to come to our table (we waited at least 10 minutes)…mind you it was not busy at all and the manager was just hanging at the bar by herself.

Finally the manager comes over and asks what the problem is. We explain to her how we had to send the food back as it was inedible. To which she responds…no I have to charge you for it because you opened it up. “Those veggies cost money”. ………😳 like excuse me? The frozen bag of cauliflower is what you’re worried about? She never offered an apology or any type of solution other than I’m charging you only half for the plate that we did not eat. Not to mention when the bill did come she took 4 dollars off (which was not half). Rather than arguing about it because clearly we weren’t getting anywhere we paid it as we knew we would never come back to that establishment.

I say all of that to say I do NOT recommend this restaurant to anyone…like ever. Mediocre food and incompetent management. There’s a Taco Bell not too far away that we will do next time we ever end up out on that side of town again and want some...

Went to dinner with my family last night. Ordered a few different apps and some adult menu items and a kids taco meal. The adult items and apps came out fine but when we got our daughters kids taco meal I noticed it came with 2 tacos and menu said one. I mentioned to the server "oh your kids meals come with 2 tacos now" and she didn't answer me. We now get the bill. I see a few mishaps so I flag her down. First they have a sign that says if you order guacamole you get chips and salsa free. The chips and salsa were on our bill. Second they charged us for an adult taco meal instead of my daughters kids taco meal. We tell her about the issues and her manager Delores intervenes and trys to tell us we owe for the chips and salsa because we split our tables bill (bill one was my in laws 2 meals and bill 2 our 2 apps, 3 adult meals and 1 kids meal). I tell her that make no sense we got the guacamole and are paying for it on our bill which would make the chips and salsa free that she has posted on the sign in her establishment. She then tells me she will not take off the adult taco meal because it was served to our table.. at this point I'm livid!!! I explain to her a 3rd time we ordered a kids meal, which comes with 1 taco.. I questioned the server when it arrived with no response.. my daughter ate only 1 taco.. we did not order an adult meal for her we ordered a kids meal which our server confirmed she made a mistake when entering it in the computer. This manager/owner Delores still arguing with me saying she won't take it off. I am beyond disgusted with the BS this woman tried pulling. I am local who likes to support local and frequents her restaurant but I will tell every friend and family member to take their business elsewhere. End result a lot of yelling by me got the charge removed but she lost our business for the BS she tried pulling to charge for charges that shouldn't have been. I also witnessed a male server delivering chips and salsa to a neighboring table who had just sat down. Delores walked up to the table and snatched it up and said they have to pay not for free. Like what the actual hell.. Duces Delores your business ia failing because of you and to our new female server you did a great job for being new and im sorry you have to...

I have frequented this restaurant with my family and until tonight I always had decent experiences. But tonight they lost three customers tonight and I’ve told my family. First and foremost we were ignored for 5-10 minutes before taking a drink order. One person in my party they forgot her drink and it took an additional 5 minutes. One person in our party asked for napkins and that never arrived. The table to the right of us left because they were ignored and the table to the left of us also had to wait 10+ minutes to have their order taken. I ordered enchiladas and both mine and my friends were cold on the inside. To top it off mine tasted off. Like something wasn’t right and I’ve ordered the same dish before. So I told our server who basically rudely said “so you just don’t like it”. I said no that something was wrong and I didn’t know if it was the chicken or what. “So you just don’t like it.”. No! I explained very graciously again that something tasted rancid or off. I asked for the same dish but cheese instead of the chicken. It came out…cheese not melted, sauce lukewarm and I bit into again and it was the mole sauce. It tasted fishy like seaweed and I’ve never ever had it taste like that before. I ended up just scraping the sauce off because I was starving and annoyed. Then we went to pay our bills and mine was $24 and some change and I gave the server $30. She brought me back $5 and no change. I don’t care if it was $.01 or $.99 that is theft. I didn’t say you could keep the change I asked for my change. If this server is doing this to multiple people then she’s making a lot more. I would’ve left no tip but I am not a jerk. It’s sad because the owner is nice. I will NEVER set foot in your...
