Khaao Macha Biryanis & Bowls at Market 42 has potential, but our experience was mixed.
Before ordering, I asked about the spice levels since I don’t eat spicy food. The gentleman at the counter was incredibly friendly, knowledgeable, and enthusiastic, explaining that the assumption about Indian food being inherently spicy is a misconception. He assured us that spice levels could be customized, which gave me confidence in my order.
My husband and I decided on the boneless chicken biryani, two sides of garlic naan, cheesy naan bites as an appetizer, and the one dessert available on the menu to go. However, no specific spice level was discussed or confirmed during the ordering process, but I assumed it would be mild given our prior extensive conversation.
Unfortunately, that's when our positive experience changed; our order sat on the counter for about 10 minutes before our name was called, even though the staff saw us waiting. Once home, the biryani smelled amazing and the chicken and rice were perfectly tender. But it was so overwhelmingly spicy, to the point that my husband barely ate half, and I couldn’t eat mine at all. If someone enjoys spicy food, I imagine it would be a great dish, but given my explicit inquiry about spice levels, I felt misled. The naan, appetizer, and dessert were enjoyable, but the uncertainty around spice levels makes me hesitant to return. I would highly suggest adding indicators of spice levels to the menu so customers could make more informed choices.
Overall, Khaao Macha has potential but clear spice indicators and better attention to orders would make a...
Read moreNever made a public food review but this is my favorite place in town!! And hands down my favorite Indian food. My first visit was at the dry opening and the owner was incredibly friendly and passionate about his food and you can feel it in his delicious dishes. Really wanted to make this review simply because of how warm and welcoming him and the team are whenever I order it. All they were serving was butter chicken and it blew me away. Even my daughter and wife who do not share my love of Indian food, really liked it. Some of the most flavorful and perfectly balanced sauce and you can tell the ingredients are high quality. The Biryani explodes with flavor!!(and heat). I want to try the other vendors in the Market but as soon as I hit the door and catch the whiff I can’t resist and head right too it. They recently added their curries which I haven’t tried but have no doubt they are amazing. Pricey but so worth it IMO. So please visit often because if they ever go out of business I will go on a...
Read morePHENOMENAL!!! My husband and I stopped by while browsing Market 42 and it was nothing short of amazing!!!
We got the butter chicken and garlic naan and WOW!!! The butter chicken was delicious, hot and fresh and so flavorful!! I had never had butter chicken, but my husband said it was the best he’d ever had!! The best move to make is to put the rice and butter chicken on the garlic naan like a burrito, which the staff member suggested to us and it was chef’s kiss perfect!!!
My husband had gone up to order 2 chai and the gentleman. Was so incredibly kind he gave us some for free!! He also offered us additional rice, which I will be enjoying with the left over butter chicken at home!!
The gentleman at the register was so incredibly kind and welcoming. He even joked that the tight space was designed on purpose to increase conversation amongst gets and staff.
It was an amazing experience and both my husband and I are excited to have it again and even check out their larger menu in...
