Market 42 has been hyped for a long time and I was excited to come check it out. Came around 9:30 am on a Friday and there were only a few restaurants and none of the stores open. However, there are plenty of places to eat inside from lunch to dinner time. I like the variety of dining available and that there's a large Irish bar in the main space. None of the stores were open, but there were only a handful and none were the kind you drive out of your way for, but there were some cool ideas (like a plant bar, genius!). I got coffee from the only coffee shop, breakfast food from La Crepe, and a fresh loaf of bread from the bakery, all of which was delicious and fairly priced. It's pretty spacious inside and the front patio area is quite large and will be nice on a summer evening. Regarding cons, they really hyped up this place and right now it definitely does not live up to it. The concept is great, but there's stuff missing. For one, similar to what others have been saying, the parking lot is way too small. There's still a bunch of empty spaces inside that need vendors. The "arcade" is a joke as it is incredibly tiny and if there's anymore than a half-dozen or so kids there, it won't work. From all the reading I did ahead of time, I was expecting a lot of cool stuff around the outside, but right now it's just a big patio and that's it. Thoughts for improvement: -Expand the outdoor amenities! There is a path and an empty brick area that I hope will have like a Gazebo or something on it. But there needs to be much more. This place was marketed to be a great place for families, so there needs to be more family friendly amenities. Some kind of playground maybe? There are bike racks, but no obvious ways for people to ride their bikes there. Right now the only real way to ride a bike there is to come through the neighborhood behind using the connecting path. I recommend building out a genuine bike path, perhaps connecting to the new Brunswick greenway, to improve bike and foot traffic to the location. More parking spaces! If no room to expand at the location, then build a parking lot a ways away and offer a free shuttle or build a connecting walking path. Try a different type of vendor beyond stores and restaurants, such a maybe a place for people to play board or other social-type games while drinking their beer from the pub or ice cream from the...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreThere are several different places inside of market 42, thereās a bar, and several other booths. I didnāt get to check out. This is definitely a nice place to stop by. There is no riffraff. Everybody was very polite and it seems quite family friendly.
Now⦠as for my food experience;
I ate at local west Brunswick and had the Fonz with Cajun fries- ABSOLUTELY hands down the best cut of chicken I have ever had on a sandwich, everything was high-quality, there was no fatty bits throughout the chicken that gave the impression of poor quality, everything was very, very high-quality and thoroughly cooked. The red peppers were sautĆ©ed perfectly, mozzarella cheese melted, just right, and the chicken was juicy, tender, thoroughly cooked, and everything blended very well together with the ciabatta bread. For the Cajun fries, I absolutely loved the fact that they have the cons fries, coupled with amazing Cajun seasoning thatās not too overpowering, but itās just pronounced enough to be just right.
I genuinely am going to go out of my way to drive out here and try more food on the menu. With the way the sandwich turned out. I donāt think itās gonna be possible to eat anything from here that is going to be anything less than satisfactory.
The customer service is on point, the girl that greeted me at the counter was very polite and kind, and immediately assisted me. 10/10 recommended!!
Also, for what itās worth, I smelled a bunch of different foods being cooked from all the different places inside of here and everything...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreAs a definitive review. I really like this place. The food options are good and there is plenty of space. The boutiques are unique and will grow to better fit the niche they inhabit.
McGinty's is one of my favorite bars, but there is no Irish ambiance in the space. So the name really doesn't resonate. Still, it is a nice bar and there is plenty of seating.
Outside will be a great space in the summer, and I hope there will be some good popup markets. There is a lively look to the place, which will hopefully keep up.
Here is the issue and it is an absolute epic failure. The parking will cause Market 42 to fail completely and close within months if it is not remedied. You have 25 shops and food stalls with more to come. If each place has two employees, that means 50 cars for employees. Taking up nearly the entire parking lot. I tried three times to go over the last month and failed twice. If you don't live nearby, you will never come back if you drive out and can not park. It is absolutely unacceptable. On the day I did get to go in, the parking lot was full, with people making up parking spots in the surrounding lawn. I only counted 18 customers in the place. For a food stall to survive, they need to serve around 200 customers a day. The first to close will be the fruit bar. With the amount of immediately perishable inventory, they'll throw away ten times their revenue.
The parking must be fixed immediately. If it isn't, parking will no longer be a problem, because there won't be anything left...
