I have to confess, I have never eaten at a place quite like this before! We were greeted warmly and invited to view the handwritten menu affixed to the front counter. After paying for our selections, we were directed to a hot beverage station in the back corner to get our coffee. We then got to choose to sit at the bar or at one of the collection of mismatched tables and chairs to wait for our meal to be served. The ladies who took our order and served us were very pleasant, friendly and helpful. Our food was brought out quickly. The eggs, bacon, grits and toast were all cooked to perfection and served piping hot. The chicken biscuit, however, was a little disappointing. I had hoped for and expected a real, self-rising flour, shortening and buttermilk biscuit, freshly baked and brushed on top with butter, split in half, with a crispy on the outside, tender and juicy on the inside, white meat, boneless, breaded chicken tender placed in the middle. What I got was a refrigerator "doughboy popping fresh " type roll with an oval shaped cut out of batter dipped, precooked, oven heated chicken. It wasn't bad, just not what I was expecting. But as I said, this place is unique. I hope I don't seem snobbish or insulting with my comments, because I don't mean to be, but in my opinion, a beautifully prepared breakfast of fluffy scrambled eggs, perfectly crisp bacon and creamy grits deserves a more pleasant presentation than to be served on low budget grade styrofoam plates and eaten with flimsy plastic...

My office and I ordered from here this past week and I went to go pick it up, it was a ten person, last minute order, 30 mins before lunch.....(not our fault!) but the wonder, Frances & Heather who's at the front, they work in such a timely, efficient, non-stressful environment. They work beautifully together "as a team" and are more than accommodating, Frances went out of her way to make sure I had everything we needed while Heather was back and forth with the cups and deserts and even holding the door for me as I loaded the bags in the car! I was in complete awe by the effective and proficient teamwork and manageability this restaurant has and it is because of the two people here. Above and beyond is an under statement, the two are outstanding!! Will certainly be back as well as my co workers and they echo my praises ❣️ thanks again Frances and Heather for accommodating in such a quick manner and with very little notice, much...

Theses people should be ashamed of themself to be serving this low to bad quality food. Lets start with the pulled Pork or what ever it was I wasn't sure if they opened a can of dog food or processed a road kill that day. the next thing was a hot dog it takes little to no cooking skill to cook a hot dog but the cook managed to F it up it was probably cook hours before we ordered moving on to the hamburger within 2 minutes of ordering the burger was on the table, in it dry up and burned glory and had obviously been cooked hour earlier as well The brownie ? They did a really good job on the bagged chips and Canned drinks though The owner of this business need to look at what is being put out and called food by the cook worst food I have...

We are new to this portion of Pender County. The fifth largest in the state. . I read that in a book I bought when i ordered two of the best pies we ( and neighbors) have had since childhood. Their pies were the focus of discussion amongst a family of cooks around the Thanksgiving spread. The chicken salad is not something I'd write home about. I'd send some home instead. Bravo ladies. Pender is proud.

We rolled into Burgaw on our bicycles and were looking for a place to have lunch. Older Carolina Eatery, with all of its galleries decorations on full display, looked very inviting indeed. The three of us had a wonderful lunch. Two of us had their daily lunch special and were delighted with the portions.

Only tea comes with a meal, which i cant drink. Only had baked beans and slaw as side. Had to pay double for chips bc I don't like baked beans. Not friendly unless you are a regular and was over 20 dollars for what is pictured. On the bright side my Mom liked the hot dogs which is the most important.
