Trying to be fair here. Our visit started off well. The Dune is doing their best to take care of summer crowds, out under a tent. We were seated, and waitress took drink / appetizer, then came back for food orders right away.

Then the wheels came off, and the waiting began.

We ordered standard fair, burgers and fish baskets, nothing special. We noticed that tables around us were turning over, then parties that were seated well after us were getting their food. We were able to snag our waitress and asked about food and ordered another pitcher of beer, and waited.....

Food finally came out, barely warm.. fish tasted good, but went completely cold fast.

Glasses are empty.. waiting.. waiting...

We hear another waitress tell the table next to us that they ran out of the beer we ordered..

Waiting... waiting.. finally grabbed the other waitress and told her to cancel our 2nd pitcher,(because we weren't going to get it anyway).

My friend and I walk across the street to purchase beer for our hotel rooms later, leaving the wives at the table to finish the bill.

We return, and still not finished. The 4 of us take turns using the outhouse. Waiting...

The place is getting empty, sun is setting and girls are getting cold.

Finally waitress brings out bills, drops them and disappeared. No sorry for the wait, nothing about the missing pitcher.

I understand having a bad night. And I hope it was just that, But I don't know why you wouldn't acknowledge that.

Not impressed,...

We came in with a group of 8. It was packed! The lady seating people was doing an excellent job. Our server was the issue. She took half our table's order, and walked off. Then taking another tables order. We had to wave her down for drinks after she took our food order. (She didnt give us a chance to order another round) We were sitting right next to the bar. I saw our drinks sitting there on the tray so I asked the bartender if they were ours and if I could take them. I was trying to help our STRUGGLING server. The server rushed over and barked at me "go sit down at your table and let me do my job." I am a bartender of over 15 years. I have so much respect for the industry. I work in Florida so I am familiar with busy tourist times. This tall woman (our server) with shoulder length brown hair was shrill. A simple "no thank you, I'll get it" would've been fine but the way she spoke to me had me a bit miffed. I would never talk to a paying customer like that. The food was excellent as always. We had the scotch eggs and whitefish tacos. The chef knows what he is doing! The bartender was very welcoming and friendly. I'm sorry I had to experience that server. She brought the other half of our party's food out after we had ours for a while. Likely because she rang the order in much after. It was weird. Otherwise, it would've be a fun experience with...

Really really didn’t want to have to do this but we were thoroughly disappointed with our time here. We returned to Grand Marais to celebrate our 1 year anniversary of marriage as we got engaged here in 2016 and LSB was the first place we came to to celebrate with a beer, also purchased one of the amazing handcrafted leather coozies. Unfortunately our order was put in wrong, the fish tacos were delicious but undercooked. The blueberry wheat beer was less than desirable, the house flies were out of control (I know they can’t control the weather/flies but all of the spilled food and beer was not helping and there was not room indoors). The spinach and artichoke dip was floating in oil. THREE families of paying customers were turned away from an OPEN table on the patio only to be “saved” for an employee that seemed to be hanging out/eating before her shift? 🤷🏽‍♀️ One of the families appropriately stated, “you just lost a paying customer”. We love Grand Marais and will continue to come back but will likely be going to Grand Marais Tavern (awesome place!). Hoping our minds are changed the next time we get up here. We WILL give LSB another chance, as our experience in 2016 was...

If in Grand Marais you should stop for at least a beer. Great location with very good beers and wonderful Lake Superior whitefish/food. Unfortunately the brew pub section was closed due to staffing shortage. Regardless the establishment made every effort to provide a proper tasting of their brews in the Saloon/restaurant area. Beers are tasty and well done. Whitefish selection was fried or poached. The use of whitefish for salads, tacos, burgers, or just dinners was unique and made for a fun dining experience trying to decide which to order. We had the salads (a bit different right) which were very excellent with the assortment of greens, veggies and many good available dressings. The poached whitefish was done to savory perfection with several different spices. The flavors that they developed with the mix of dressings, fish, and greens was unexpected and incredible. Highly recommend the salad. Observed dinners and burgers that also looked delicious . Finally…a shout out to the staff who did a great job making our lunch all that much better with service and hospitality . When I eventually come back to town I will dine here again.

We ate a late lunch/dinner here with a total of 7 of us. It was difficult to find a table to accommodate that many. There is a front room with a pool table and the bar, a patio area that is open at certain times and then a backroom. We ate in the backroom where you could see the distillery. We ordered a flight of craft beer, which was amazing. Burgers and fries were super good. They offer homemade Root beer and cream soda? I believe. It was hot, as the doors were open; only ceiling fans for a breeze. We were sweating. Music was kid friendly. They were having a band play later at night, but we did not return. It is often busy and you will likely need to wait for a table if you're going there after 4pm. They had 1 bathroom for the boys and 1 for the girls, so there was often a line waiting to use the 1 girls bathroom. The bathroom has graffiti style writing all over it. The restaurant could be bigger to support the tourism, as there are only 2 bars in Grand Marais open for dinner.

A delicious and humble spot! Fair pricing for what you get - not an amazingly fantastic value but I think the quality of food easily makes up for it. We got a slew of apps and entrees - many of these are made from fresh in house. The pizza was very good and overloaded with toppings that made it quite filling. The ribs were a top 5 rib spot that I’ve had easily for me. They fall off the bone and are pretty simple and delicious. I don’t have ribs too often, so take my opinion with a bit of a grain of salt, but worth a try in my opinion at the least. Cheese curds, pretzels, and Scottish eggs were also very good! Only miss were some of the sides. The mash potatoes tasted pre-made, but a nitpick for sure. The beer selection was small for the night for a brewery - wasn’t a massive fan of any of the beers, but the flight was a nice variety anyways. Would definitely come back in a heartbeat
