We were looking for lunch and both wondered about it his cool little looking place in Butler. We were greeted and seated right away. Our server was nice and did not rush us while ordering. We were sad to see that everything we wanted to try was not available until after 4pm. This included the fish fry. So we ordered appetizers and soup while we tried to find something on the menu that we wanted to eat that was being served for lunch. Our server was still patient with us, brought our appetizers and soup then took our orders. Our appetizer was jalapeno poppers and my soup was French Onion. I ordered a steak sandwich and he ordered a Philly Cheesesteak. All I can say was thank God I ordered the soup. My sandwich was on a bun that was more than twice the length of the steak with onion straws on it. His looked nothing like a Philly Cheesesteak. As I was eating, I started choking. I tried to take sips of soda since there was no water and not one person looked up. Our server came to us and waited for me to cough up what I was choking on then asked how our lunch was. I kind of wanted to say that along with it almost killing me, it sucked. A tenderloin should not be full of chewy grizzly fat. My friend took his first bite of his sandwich and ended up spitting it out. I asked if he was ok and he said that he was ok, but the food sucked. So on top of my meal trying to kill me, nobody even noticing that I was choking including the server that was standing right there waiting until I could speak so she could ask how my meal was, my friend hated his food, but after the choking incident, I really just wanted to get out of there because there is a difference between a cough and choking. Especially when I was hitting my chest trying to get someone to see me, my friend started to get up but I finally coughed up this grizzly piece of meat so at least I didn't end up needing an ambulance coroner. Needless to say, we will not be back and to anyone who does want to try the place and have more choices than a small percentage of the menu, go after 4pm and know that you could be taking chances on the steak being fatty because both of us ended up with that same issue, different...
Read moreMy visit to the Butler Inn was suggested to me by my hotel concierge. I took a client for lunch on a Tuesday afternoon. I was pleased to see it wasn't too hectic and we could have a quiet lunch. We were greeted right away and was told we could choose our table. Our waitress came over immediately and told us of the specials. She returned promptly with our iced teas. Tea was fresh brewed. Menu has a lot of choices and I opted for a chichen wrap. I upgraded to cottage cheese on the side for an additional fee. My client had the house special which was meatloaf. Our waitress refilled our tea consistently and was always smiling. My wrap was good in size and tasted good, however I would have liked cheese. I suppose I could have asked that they add cheese. My client thought his meatloaf was flavorful but not as hot as it should have been. He decided not to bother the waitress to heat it up and ate it anyway. I would return on my next trip providing I stay in the same general vicinity. I hope they update their chairs as they were creaky and I was worried my heavier set lunch companion may fall through. Overall atmosphere was pleasant and casual. They still write on carbon...
Read moreMy wife ordered a Grilled Cheese with Fries and I ordered the Patty Melt with extra crispy Fries. We started off by sharing a small salad. I asked for extra Croutons and Italian Dressing.
The Salad was fresh and crispy. The Tomatoes, Cucumbers and Carrots were just the right amount. The Salad was great !
My wife's Grilled Cheese was burnt on one half of the sandwich. The other half was in her word's, " good ". Her fries were hot and delicious.
My Patty Melt was cooked perfect. The Rye Bread was smooth and crunchy while the burger was cooked the way I ordered it. My Fries were extra crispy and awesome.
The overall atmosphere is nice but crowded. It would be hard to social distance because of the lack of a generous floor plan. Most of the employees do not wear masks which in this time is inappropriate.
Overall, we were satisfied with our meal. To be brutally honest, I find it hard to grasp why the Butler Inn does not make their employees wear masks. I guess until the whole pandemic is under control we'll take our buisness elsewhere, to an establishment that cares about both customers and...
