I was looking for some authentic Caribbean food and atmosphere. Most places were closed. I searched again and this place popped up. When I first pulled up I wasn't sure. My mom and I walked in and straight away I loved the colors, the decor and was like okay we will try this out. We met the owner Selwyn and we hit it off right away. He was friendly and open. He gave us a couple of samples of this and that and we were amazed and delighted with every thing he put in front of us.
We started with his smoked turkey and spinach soup. 😋 it was amazing. Then he gave us a Mimosa flight. I liked the guava and the mango. My mom liked the coconut with pineapples 🍍 and the 🍓 strawberry. Then he made us this punch of something with fresh lemons and other things it was delicious. We had rito and seasoned rice and peas 🫛 we had white rice with the rito. My mom had baked Mac and cheese 🧀 😭 😩 I am allergic so I couldn't try that. We had jerk chicken and corn 🌽. Then for dessert we had a fruit Rum cake 🥮 that was homemade. We left his place full and satisfied 😊 . We told him when we are back in Milwaukee we are coming to his place again. The music, the conversation, the food, you felt like you were old friends.
Thank you Selwyn for an amazing Guyanese...
Read moreWe were the only people there we were not greeted by staff. We walked to counter and we were to to sit anywhere. We sat ourselves and waited 10 to 15 minutes for someone to take our order. Food came out after 20 minutes the presentation of the food was nice and food taste good but cold not ice cold but not hot. Oxtail wasn't seasoned. Seafood gumbo had one salad shrimp and a whole small crab again the water in the bowl for gumbo was Luke warm. Jerk chicken was not bad but cold. Nobody wanted to send food back because the atmosphere wasn't that welcoming for us. But another couple came in they were (white) the staff greeted them got them water we ( black) had to ask for water, salt and pepper, and wine menu which was on a board on the wall covered by bowls The ( white) people food came out smoking hot and they right away had drinks. I was super confused as to why the service was so different for us. And the only 2 staff (black) kept looking at us like they knew that they were wrong. Never will I eat here again. Very...
Read moreLove this place. Always calm and relaxed vibes. The owner and staff are always very courteous and make sure you feel welcomed. They have great service and the food is always on point and very delicious. It's a very authentic flavor in everything they cook. I've only had 3 dinners from there and they haven't disappointed. The curry goat is so tender and has great flavor. Right now I just got curry beef that is served around rice and peas. Also comes with seasoned cabbage which is out of this world and then a piece of corn that's bursting with flavor and is really juicy. Second dish I got was jerk ribs that also came with all the same sides. Ribs are cooked to perfection and the jerk seasoning is great and it also has a bit of smoke flavor. With a generous tip I spent a little less than 30$ I really recommend this Jamaican restaurant.for the atmosphere, the friendly staff and owners. Quick service and delicious food. You can't go wrong.
