Sigh. If you like the idea of Indian food but don't actually want the full flavor, this is the place for you. Think ✨the La Croix of curry✨.
First things first. They were pretty quick, which is amazing since we typically need to wait forever for Indian delivery from Wayne or further. But they completely forgot my ras malai. Strike one already. I thought, if I love the food and want to give them a chance to make it right, I'll call and let them know.
Now here's where things get interesting. My husband and I both independently observed that the base for our curries very strongly resembled Campbell's tomato soup in both taste and texture, and we got two different dishes (his was chicken tikka masala, mine was butter chicken).
That would be forgiveable, maybe, except... The spices - where are they??? I'm not talking about heat, I just mean actual flavor - you know, what Indian cuisine is known for. We found absolutely no evidence of any whole spices being used, and one typically stumbles on the odd whole cardamom pod in a properly made curry (occupational hazard). Nope. Each sauce was as perfectly homogeneous as- you guessed it - Campbell's tomato.
To top it all off, the naan was bland, like they forgot to add salt to the dough. The samosas were pretty good and the one thing I liked the most, albeit a little bit undercooked. Needless to say, I wasn't eager enough for the ras malai to call about it. I'll survive.
Pros: finally an Indian restaurant anywhere near the Butler/Kinnelon vicinity. Quick service. Easy to order on the Slice app. Probably a good choice for someone terrified of strong flavors.
Cons: well, pretty much everything else.
Advice to Indian food fanatics: Stick to your faves in Wayne, Parsippany...
Read moreI live 20 miles away from this restaurant in an area that seriously lacks delicious restaurant options. I saw today that this place was available on Ubereats and even though there were few reviews, they were so good that it was worth a try. Everything was absolutely DELICIOUS!!!! I had the vegetable samosas, shrimp fried rice, chana masala, the garlic naan, and the shrimp tika masala. This was hands down the most yummy Indian food I have had. The samosas were beautifully crispy on the outside and perfectly seasoned inside, the naan was addictive, the shrimp fried rice was beyond, and the masalas had the perfect balance of flavor and kick. I am stuffed and so happy to say this is going to be our new spot...
Read moreAn awesome addition to downtown Butler! This is the Indian place we’ve been needing. The food was delicious and well prepared. My wife and I had the chai tea, mango lassi, goat byriani, chicken curry, vegetable samosa and chilli dumplings. All was so good! Highly recommending coming here. Let’s keep Indian food in Butler!
Samosa,(sorry no photo) very flavorful, nice dusting of spices and served with some veggies.
Chilli dumplings: very unique flavoring. I wasn’t sure what to expect of Indian dumplings but this is exactly what I imagine they should be. Highly recommend giving these a try!
The biryani and curry were also amazing! Cooked perfectly and very flavorful. We will absolutely be back as...
