Place came recommended to us by a local while my friends and I were in town to visit the state park. Typically my expectations are lower in smaller towns/rural areas for a myriad of reasons. Let me just say that every single item that we tried on the menu was exceptional! I had the pimento cheese on sourdough, with waffle fries. That sourdough (chefs kiss) rivals anything I’ve ever had in a large city. I might even go as far as to say it’s the best bread I’ve ever eaten. Not exaggerating. Waffle fries were perfectly fried. Crisp but not greasy. Sweet potato fries also earn a top recognition in the fry playbook. After exceeding our expectations we opted to try dessert. Hesitant as I was seeing it in the fridge up front, Their strawberry cake & their carrot cake shocked us with their moist spongy texture, and the depth of spicy flavor. I’ve had a lot of dry restaurant cake, (that came highly recommended by locals) this wasn’t it. It was absolutely divine! Do yourself a favor and eat just about anything on this menu. Low key place. Let me tell you if you are just passing through or nearby. It's worth the drive. The homemade food was surprising the paminto cheese, chicken salad, & the tuna salad on fresh bed of lettuce with crackers was refreshing, tasty, it was heaven with every bite. First of all the amount of food you get for the price is excellent. Most of the food is made homemade on site and it’s delicious. Sometimes the food is a little slower to get to you because it is homemade so if you’re in a hurry, maybe try another place but if you have time to kick back and enjoy a nice country meal, some comfort food.
