Brought here by friends. Fried okra was fine. Fries typical frozen crinkle cut fried. Onion rings alright. Brisket was WAY overcooked, extremely dry. Texture of meat was very off, almost a cross between a proper smoked brisket and a crock pot brisket. Very strange. Was extra smoky, too... As if they added a bunch of liquid smoke? Very small portion with a lot of gristle. Smoked pork plate... Okay. A bit dry, but decent flavor. Sauces didn't do much for it. Decent amount of meat. The plate came with 3 sides, I asked for baked beans and 2 sides of fries (since one of my kids didn't have fries with their meal I was going to share my double order with her). I was also sharing my plate with our 18 month old. I got a tiny condiment-cup serving of beans and a handful, literally, of fries. I ended up putting almost all the fries on her plate, eating 2,and letting the baby have maybe 2 (along with some of my pork and some beans, which the baby did NOT care for - which was surprising, given he absolutely loves baked beans). If that was a double order of fries, I'm the Pope. My kids that ordered chicken fingers got more fries than my supposed double - order. Ridiculous. Sauces were average at best. Service was fine. The waitress was very friendly, and even stopped by and checked on the kids in our party individually to ask how they liked their cheeseburger and chicken fingers. Place was clean. Off the beaten path. Definitely not going to see any interstate diners here. Cheeseburger was average, though PILED with veggies, which our daughter thought was awesome. Chicken fingers were overcooked and burnt around the edges. Overall edible but wouldn't go out of my...

As a truck driver, finding a good place to eat with room to park can be a challenge. So when I was in Calhoun today, and passed by Thatcher's mid-afternoon, I decided to check it out.

Everything was excellent. Food was great, service by Kendra was outstanding, and I will look forward to the next time I can eat there again, no matter what I'm driving.

What I had (so you know what I'm rating 5 stars): the combo plate with pulled chicken and pork and sliced beef brisquet. (The brisquet was my favorite, and next time I'll just get that; but the chicken and pork were delicious, and I used a little of the house bbq sauce, which was mild but good).

I was surprised to have to choose 3 sides instead of 2: fries (fry heaven for me), pintos (which were delicious and would make an excellent meal with some cornbread), and Brunswick stew (good, prob better in winter), topped off with Texas toast.

Sweet tea is a major barometer for me of whether a place is good or not - they got this one down!

Service: another important measure for me. Kendra, my server, was friendly, attentive, and smiled. One thing important to me: does the server come back to refill my drink before it's empty? Kendra scored perfectly on this and did it several times.

If you like BBQ and a down-home feel-good atmosphere, you will not go wrong with Thatcher's in Calhoun,...

Want to honestly share my experience here but one bad experience doesn't necessarily reflect the restaurant in whole hopefully. I live in Calhoun and was referred here by a friend. Me and my wife walked in. The attendant stood behind the counter and said "Just two"? "You can sit over there" which was in the far corner of the restaurant. One side of the restaurant (Near the door) had open tables but we were directed (not escorted) to the other side of the restaurant, which was empty. Completely empty no exaggeration. I thought oh wow. But just pushed that to the side to sit and enjoy a meal with my wife. The waiter came over. My wife told him it was our first time. It would have been nice for him to explain the menu. So we ordered and the food came within ten minutes. I thought wow thats fast. The food was lukewarm, some items even smelled old as if they were in the refrigerator for some time then warmed up. The waiter only came to our table to take our order and to bring the bill. Je constantly went behind the counter to drink soda and talk amongst the other host. We were there a total of 30 min and could not even finish our food. Will not be back. Maybe you can give it a try and your experience is better. But for me and my wife, no. She was upset but held her...

Overall, it was a satisfactory visit. We drove from Rome, Ga to come to try it. Atmosphere is country but loud. Difficult to hold a conversation. Food was mostly good but I had ordered a sampler platter that was supposed to have pulled pork, brisket, and ribs. When the order came out, the waitress said they were out of ribs but they had subbed more brisket, without telling me before hand and allowing me the choice to choose something else. The brisket was good. The pulled pork was very dry. The entree came with 3 choices of sides. I chose green beans, coleslaw, and Brunswick stew. The green beans had been sweetened. If you are a diabetic, do not pick these. They were ok. I did enjoy the coleslaw and the Brunswick stew. My mother had the jumbo pulled pork sandwich with 3 sides, which were onion rings, potato salad, and baked beans. Her pulled pork was also very dry. She had to soak it in barbq sauce to eat it. She said her baked beans and coleslaw was very good. But her potato salad was not. I tasted it and it was more like plain mashed potatos with no seasoning at all. I had to agree with her that the potato salad was not good. I usually give a place a second chance so I will be back to see if this was just an off day.

The food is good. Not anything special or write home about but pretty good. My son and I ordered double burgers because they have very unique burger creations. I don't suggest doubling the patties because they use a lower form of ground meat. Probably the ground meat that comes in the tube and not freshly ground. And also I didn't taste any barbecue or grill flavor on the burgers as if they were steamed. I didn't even tell if they were cooked on a flat top. No sear on the burger patties. But the overall flavor is good. Not bad at all. The banana pudding is good. Same, give it about a 7 out of 10. my son and I noticed lack of bananas but I kind of like it like that. But it was a lot of cream more than bananas. Maybe some more wafers or something, idk... But I just tasted more cream than banana. Still good though.
