I was just at Oscars and I will never go back,I have been there many times with my family and the food is generally good but slow ,the servers are usually friendly and knowledgable.Today I was there with my family sitting near the rear and the food was taking a very long time.I realized it was a half hour since we ordered and the table ahead of us still had not received thier food,my daughter was whining because she was hungry.I went to the counter and asked about the food I asked the waitress and she got very defensive ,I told her that we had to leave and she said it would be out soon.We decided to wait ,big mistake we waited another 10 minutes and finally the table before us got thier food.Good News! ,but short lived ,I finally hear the waitress ask the cook( also owner)about the food ,he proceeded to yell at her and then said "If they dont want to wait tell them to leave",I overheard this and in order to help the waitress I informed him that I would take his advice and leave since we were approaching an hour ,and I was not about to give this belligerent man my business.I will not go back here again ,this guy is an unappreciative owner who would not exist without my business and people like me who frequent his place.Poor customer...

When we moved to Califon last August Oscar’s was the very first place we stopped to eat and we were instantly blown away. The food was incredible, but what really stood out was Oscar himself. He greeted us with such warmth and hospitality that it immediately made us feel at home.

Since then, Oscar’s has become our go-to spot, not just for us, but for every friend and family member who comes to visit. I always tell our guests how amazing it is, and without fail, it exceeds expectations every single time. Every dish I’ve tried has been consistently delicious, made with care and quality that’s hard to find.

I don’t usually leave reviews, but I felt compelled to after our last visit. I ordered the key lime pie for dessert, and I can honestly say, it was the best key lime pie I have ever had in my life. Perfectly balanced, fresh, the exact right amount tart and absolutely unforgettable.

My brother and I had dinner tonight at Oscar’s Gourmet Café in Califon, and we’re still talking about it — because that ribeye was unforgettable.

From the moment the plate hit the table, we knew we were in for something special. A generous portion of perfectly cooked ribeye, juicy and tender with a flawless sear — easily one of the best steaks I’ve had not just in New Jersey, but anywhere.

The mashed potatoes were rich and buttery, smooth with just the right texture, and the vegetables were vibrant and fresh - like they came straight from a local farm that morning.

Everything on that plate was done with care, heart, and serious culinary skill. You don’t just taste the ingredients - you taste the pride.

We’ve eaten at plenty of steakhouses across the state, but this? This was next level. Oscar’s isn’t just a café — it’s a hidden gem that deserves way more attention.
