Something about The Workz on the outside suggested something in the middle of fast food and fast casual, so off the bat, I wasn't really expecting too much.
Getting to see the menu and the near limitless options had me hopeful at first, but after ordering the Pastrami Burrito smothered, I quickly understood Dr. Ian Malcolm's timeless comment, "Your scientists were so preoccupied with whether they could, they didn't stop to think if they should." It's was a cheap Burrito, with cheaper Pastrami, a few pickles, and a lot of sauce and grease, worth maybe $7 on a good day. It was $16.
The zucchini fries on the other hand, tasted great. The portion size was enormous, and it was overall a solid, albeit regular, fried zucchini spears experience.
Then the crispy chicken sandwich. I'm glad that thing was only $6, because if i had the choice to lick the dry ground of the Mojave Desert, or take another bite of this Chicken Sandwich... it might take me a bit longer than it should. I'd still chose the sandwich, but it wouldn't be the easiest choice I ever had to make.
Fries were solid. 9/10 on the fries. Maybe stick to the appetizer-like foods here.
Service was absolutely phenomenal. The employees were super friendly, they smiled, were quick with service, and seemed to have a pretty solid method/routine in the kitchen. No problems there - best part of the Workz by far.
Atmosphere was very "Freddys" meets "Arbys." 50s Diner meets refurbished, trendy adjacent low end fast food restaurant. The tables were almost all sticky and gross with crumbs and used napkins all over, but there were several seemingly safe options to choose from.
Overall, the Workz isn't really worth going to unless you are absolutely desperate. But the appetizers were great. Cant...
Read moreWe visited the Red Rock Canyon State Park on memorial weekend and we stayed at the area near highway 14 and CA-58, this restaurant is the only one that has everything we wanted, simple dinner after a long day driving and exploring. This restaurant is a self serve restaurant, you order and pickup your food and bust your own table. Quite convenient and quick. It serves breakfast all day and I wanted some pancakes and eggs. The works breakfast $14 has everything and huge portions. My wife had a works burger that she said it was the best one, and she only eats in-and-out LOL. The burger is big and really feed both of us with everything on it, even avocado. My breakfast plate has pancakes that so fluffy my wife ate them all. The hash brown was so good, I haven’t had this for a long time. Sausages, ham, bacon cooked perfectly. Scrambled eggs is excellent too. The only thing we wished the batter was better is the onion rings, it’s tastless although the onion is sweet. Regardless, It’s amazing restaurant. We would definitely try again when we travel...
