Big J's Pizza — Restaurant in California

A true precious jewel. Big Js. This is just the greatest spot. I have been eating here since day one. My whole family grew up on some great treats from just around the corner. Pete and his daughter are talented chefs. They are like family around here. We are always greeted with a smile. Pete jokes with me and remembers all of us, asking how we are, and he even misses me if I haven't been in for a while.

I usually order pizzas, a veggie this time, salad, meatballs and spaghetti, and/or other items on the menu to mix it up. Man...I'll bet some of you remember those ribs. I sure do. They even will make a pizza without cheese for my vegan daughter without question.

They send the nicest kids to deliver too. The gals that take my order go above and beyond when the dig in the cooler for my flavor soda and then they even will look in the freezer out front to tell me what kind of ice cream they have. So I can stay at home and have it all, usually lasting leftovers for a few days. The smart delivery guys get here quick and carefully bring it all. My favorite tubs of ice cream is coffee flavor and I usually get a couple. What made me write this today is the Greek salad I am having now. Yum its excellent! I let it sit for a day because I know it makes all the wonderful flavors blend. It's my favorite and I can honestly say it is better then some I have had in Greece. Nowhere I've been in this country, can duplicate the magic spice combination in this bowl. They also obviously go for the best sweet local tomatoes as well as other ingredients. They even use local smoked market sausage on their pizzas. They have other very good salads but this one right now is heaven in a bowl and quite authentic. I feel like I am dining next to the blue sea on the Greek islands. Thanks to all you all, for hanging in Corralitos, when times were really tough. Just another part of out tight loving neighborhood...

I miss Chicago style pizza and let me tell you, Big J's pizza reminds me of the mouth watering great tasting pizza of Chicago. Big J's is the only place I will get pizza from. There are at least 10 pizza places closer to me than Big J's and I will drive 20 minutes to them because it's so worth it. From there pizza, to wings. Calzones. Pasta dishes. And garlic bread and more, you will never be disappointed with their food. It's phenomenal and just succulent pizza like no other. I wish I lived across the street from them, I would be in heaven. This is not one of those cool thin crust pizzas like you get at Syds or Main Street Garden Cafe. (my personal favs) This is a thicker crust with lots of 'stuff' on it...great for bigger groups of hungry people. The Corralitos Special with sausage and artichokes (if I remember correctly) is great. We make a joke about the fact that we live up here at the end of the universe, at the end of a long country road in the mountains, and we still get pizza delivered. I never noticed that they were later then expected (as in another review here). We expect an hour with the 35 minutes plus 20 minutes drive time. (And they never seem to get lost). So four out of five stars for me and probably five out of five...
